Trailer for ‘Breakthrough’ Breaks Records with 40 Million Views in One Week
The trailer for the forthcoming faith-based film “Breakthrough” broke records with a staggering 40 million views in one week, highlighting God’s power, producer DeVon Franklin has said.
Starring Chrissy Metz of This is Us, “Breakthrough” tells the real-life story of Joyce and John Smith. When John, Joyce’s adopted son, falls through the ice into the freezing waters of a Missouri lake, it seems that all hope is lost. As John lay without any signs of life in excess of an hour, his mother began to fervently pray for any miracle. Miraculously, John’s heart starts to beat again, astounding everyone present and defying every scientific prediction. Mere days after the accident, John walked away from the hospital, fully healed.
Franklin, a bestselling author, pastor, and President/CEO of Franklin Entertainment, told The Gospel Herald that within days of its release, the trailer for “Breakthrough” garnered a staggering 40 million views, making it the most successful trailer launch of a faith-based film ever.
“It’s unprecedented,” Franklin said. “It’s just a testament to God’s power and proof that people are hungry for hope and inspiration. Beyond a great story, this film is a great entertainment experience that everyone will enjoy.”
He signed on to produce “Breakthrough” after hearing the Smith’s story while promoting his previous film, “Miracles from Heaven.” He was drawn to the story because it’s a “love letter to the power of prayer and the power of community.”
“Before the accident, John always struggled with his identity,” he shared. “It really reaffirmed for him that he is loved by God, he does have a place in this world, and that God does have a plan for his life.”
The theme of identity is woven throughout the film, Franklin said, and is evident not just in John’s life, but Joyce’s, too.
“Joyce is incredibly headstrong and a force of nature, but she also has to come to a moment where she has to really go deep inside herself to figure out who she really is,” he explained. “There’s a moment in the film which I won’t ruin where she goes before God with questions related to her identity. It’s truly one of the most powerful moments in the film.”
The film also drives home the importance of choosing faith over fear, Franklin said, adding: “This true story is striking a really strong chord with people because they want hope and inspiration, and they also want to be reminded that God is still in the miracle-working business.”
And while the Smith family’s story is rooted in faith, it resonates with both Christian and secular audiences. Franklin told GH that at an advanced screening for the film, one viewer who doesn’t profess any particular faith “cried all the way through the film.”
“They said it was the most moving film they’d ever seen, even though they weren’t a Christian,” Franklin shared. “The reason it resonates with everyone is simply that it’s a great story. At the end of the day, we’re all human, and we are all God’s children.”
“This movie really humanizes the struggle of what happens when life hits us unexpectedly, and how do we make it through,” he continued. “It’s in our toughest moments that we realize that we need others in order to make it through.”
“He was blown away by the story,” he shared. “We have an all-star team on this film, between Curry and Rev. Sam Rodriguez, who is also my friend.”
“Breakthrough” also stars Marcel Ruiz, Mike Colter , and Topher Grace. The film is slated to hit movie screens April 12, 2019.

The world’s number one crowd funding series ‘The Chosen’ began sales for its Christmas special on the birth of Jesus.
It’s the first of the series franchise to go to the big screen. It will play nationwide via Fathom Events.
Tickets were first offered during a livestream Tuesday night from series Creator, Writer and Director, Dallas Jenkins. Following the live stream, tickets are still available at Fathom Events’ website.
Demand was so great producers and event planners had to expand their reach.
Christmas With The Chosen: The Messengers broke Fathom Events’ record with $1.5 million in sales in the first 12 hours,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events.
“Originally slated to premiere in 1079 theaters, we’ve already added 450+ locations and thousands of screens to satisfy demand, and anticipate these numbers will continue to grow,” he continued.
Nutt says he expects the movie to be the biggest hit of the season.
“‘Christmas With The Chosen: The Messengers will be the Christmas event of 2021, and we are elated to bring it to the big screen so it may be seen by audiences nationwide,” said Fathom CEO Nutt.
“When we decided to do a special Christmas episode, we knew it would be the ideal moment to get this on the big screen,” said Dallas Jenkins. “It’s the first chance Chosen fans have had to gather all over the country, so we intend to make it worth it. And with all the incredible musicians assembled, this is a perfect event for inviting friends.”
Some of those Christian artists and groups include Phil Wickham, Maverick City Music, For King and Country, Brandon Lake, Cain, Leanna Crawford, Jordan Feliz, Matt Maher and more.
Shot entirely in secret, Christmas With The Chosen: The Messengers shows the birth of Christ through the eyes of Mary and Joseph and features actors from ‘The Chosen’ series including Austin Reed Alleman (Nathaniel), Giavani Cairo (Thaddeus), Luke Dimyan (Judas), Lara Silva (Eden).

‘The Chosen’ television series, produced by Loaves & Fishes Productions and distributed by Angel Studios, completed a second season earlier this year and remains the No.1 highest crowd-funded project ever.
Producers report it is consistantly ranked in the top 20 entertainment apps and has already been translated into 50 languages. It’s free to watch and is funded by viewers choosing to “pay it forward” after watching with a gift toward future seasons.

ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിലെ നെടുമുടിയില്‍ സ്‌കൂള്‍ അധ്യാപകനായിരുന്ന പി.കെ കേശവന്‍ പിള്ളയുടെയും കുഞ്ഞിക്കുട്ടി അമ്മയുടെയും അഞ്ച് ആണ്മക്കളില്‍ ഇളയ മകനായി 1948 മെയ് 22നാണ് കെ. വേണുഗോപാലന്‍ എന്ന നെടുമുടി വേണുവിന്റെ ജനനം നെടുമുടിയിലെ എന്‍.എസ്.എസ്. ഹയര്‍ സെക്കന്‍ഡറി സ്‌കൂള്‍, ചമ്പക്കുളം സെന്റ് മേരീസ് ഹയര്‍ സെക്കന്‍ഡറി സ്‌കൂള്‍ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നാണ് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാഥമിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടിയത്. വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ കാലത്ത് സാംസ്‌കാരിക പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളില്‍ സജീവമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. ആലപ്പുഴ എസ്. ഡി കോളേജില്‍ നിന്ന് ബിരുദമെടുത്തശേഷം കലാകൗമുദിയില്‍ പത്ര പ്രവര്‍ത്തകനായും ആലപ്പുഴയില്‍ പാരലല്‍ കോളേജ് അധ്യാപകനായും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു.
1978ല്‍ അരവിന്ദന്‍ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത തമ്പ് എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെയായിരുന്നു നെടുമുടി വേണുവിന്റെ അരങ്ങേറ്റം. ഭരതന്റെ ആരവം എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ വേഷം ശ്രദ്ധേയമായി. പത്മരാജന്റെ ഒരിടത്തൊരു ഫയല്‍വാന്‍ എന്ന ചിത്രം കാരണവര്‍ വേഷങ്ങളിലേക്കുള്ള ചുവടു മാറ്റത്തിനുവഴിയൊരുക്കി. 1089ല്‍ പൂരം എന്ന ചിത്രം സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തു. ഹിസ് ഹൈനസ് അബ്ദുള്ള എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ അഭിനയത്തിന് മികച്ച സഹനടനുള്ള ദേശീയ പുരസ്‌കാരം ലഭിച്ചു. 2003ല്‍ ദേശീയ അവാര്‍ഡില്‍ ജൂറിയുടെ പ്രത്യേക പരാമര്‍ശം ലഭിച്ചു. 1981, 1987, 2004 വര്‍ഷങ്ങളില്‍ മികച്ച നടനുള്ള സംസ്ഥാന പുരസ്‌കാരം നേടി. 1980, 1994 വര്‍ഷങ്ങളില്‍ മികച്ച രണ്ടാമത്തെ നടനുള്ള സംസ്ഥാന പുരസ്‌കാരവും സ്വന്തമാക്കി.
ആലപ്പുഴ എസ്. ഡി കോളേജിൽ പഠിക്കുന്ന കാലത്ത് സംവിധായകൻ ഫാസിലുമായുണ്ടായ സൗഹൃദം നടനെന്ന നിലയിൽ നെടുമുടി വേണുവിന്റെ സിനിമാ ജീവിതത്തിൽ നി‍ർണായകമായി മാറി. കലാകൗമുദിയിൽ പത്ര പ്രവർത്തകനായും പാരലൽ കോളേജ് അദ്ധ്യാപകനായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ച വേണുഗോപാൽ പിന്നീട് നാടകരംഗത്ത് സജീവമായി. ഇക്കാലയളവിലാണ് വേണുഗോപാൽ എന്ന പേരിന് പകരം നെടുമുടി വേണു എന്ന സ്ഥിരം വിലാസത്തിലേക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം മാറുന്നത്. നാടകത്തിൽ സജീവമായിരിക്കെയാണ് നെടുമുടി സിനിമയിൽ എത്തിയത്.
എൺപതുകളിൽ സംവിധായകരായ അരവിന്ദൻ, പത്മരാജൻ, ഭരത് ഗോപി തുടങ്ങിയവരുമായി നെടുമുടി അടുത്ത് പ്രവ‍ർത്തിച്ചു. ആദ്യകാലത്ത് നായക നടനായി തിളങ്ങിയ നെടുമുടി പിന്നീട് സ്വഭാവ നടൻ എന്ന നിലയിൽ തൻ്റെ ഇടം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി. സിനിമയിൽ അരങ്ങേറ്റം കുറിച്ച് മരിക്കുന്ന കാലം വരേയും സിനിമയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം സജീമായിരുന്നു എന്നതും മറ്റൊരു സവിശേഷതയാണ്.
