Thiruvananthapuram: KCBC welcomes Kerala High Court verdict quashing minority welfare scheme
KCBC spokesman Fr Jacob Palakappally said it was a long-standing need of the churches to implement welfare schemes in proportion to the population.
The High Court has quashed the 80:20 ratio in the distribution of minority welfare schemes in the state. The existing ratio of 80% for Muslims and the remaining 20% for non-Muslims was abolished. The High Court ruled that the ratio should be re-determined according to the current population.
The order was made in a public interest litigation filed in the High Court questioning the 80:20 ratio in the distribution of minority welfare schemes.
The 80:20 ratio was introduced during the UDF government. This was followed by the Left government that came to power later. The 80:20 ratio in the distribution of minority welfare schemes had caused great dissatisfaction among the Christian churches.
Meanwhile, BJP state general secretary and former vice-chairman of the National Commission for Minorities George Kurien welcomed the High Court verdict. He said the High Court verdict was an endorsement of the BJP’s position.
The BJP was of the view that benefits should be allowed in proportion to the population of different minorities. Now the High Court has also approved it, he said.
In 2015, the government issued an order for 80% Muslims and 20% non-Muslims. This was not a justifiable position. George Kurian said the High Court ruling was significant in light of allegations that some people were taking over aid and projects for the welfare of minorities.
He said the decision to set aside 80% of the public sector allocation for the Muslim community and the remaining 20% for the Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain and Parsi minorities was a setback to the government’s discriminatory policy towards some.
George Kurian said that the High Court has now quashed the wrong policy implemented by the Achuthanandan government, confirmed by the Oommen Chandy government and continued by the Pinarayi government.
Meanwhile, Muslim organizations and political parties have come out against the High Court verdict. The Muslim League leader said that the High Court decision to cancel the 80:20 ratio in the minority welfare schemes was misleading. T Muhammad Basheer MP said.
He added that the state government should appeal against the High Court verdict and the Muslim League would consider appealing the matter.

ടെക്സാസ്: ജീവിക്കുവാന്‍ സാധ്യതയില്ലായെന്ന് ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ തന്നെ വിധിയെഴുതിയ തന്റെ 22 ആഴ്ച മാത്രം പ്രായമുള്ള കുരുന്നിന് വേണ്ടി ഈശോയുടെ ഗാനം ആലപിക്കുന്ന പിതാവിന്റെ ടിക്ടോക്ക് വീഡിയോ സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളില്‍ തരംഗമാകുന്നു. അമേരിക്കയിലെ ടെക്സാസ് സ്വദേശിയായ ഡാനിയല്‍ ജോണ്‍സന്റെ ഗാനാലാപനത്തിനിടെ മകനായ റെമിംഗ്ടണ്‍ ഹെയ്സ് ജോണ്‍സണ്‍ എന്ന കുരുന്ന് 35 സെക്കന്റോളം തന്റെ കൈ ഉയര്‍ത്തിപ്പിടിക്കുന്നതും അത് കാണുമ്പോള്‍ പിതാവ് കരയുന്നതും ആയിരങ്ങളാണ് പങ്കുവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ജോണ്‍സന്റെ പത്നിതന്നെയാണ് ഈ വീഡിയോ ചിത്രീകരിച്ച് ടിക്ടോക്കില്‍ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ചെയ്തത്. 12 ലക്ഷത്തോളം ആളുകള്‍ കണ്ട ഈ വീഡിയോക്ക് ഇതുവരെ 2,35,200 ലൈക്കുകൾ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നതും ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്. കുടുംബത്തിനു പ്രോത്സാഹനമേകിക്കൊണ്ട് നൂറുകണക്കിന് ആളുകളാണ് വീഡിയോ ഷെയര്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ബെല്‍ കൌണ്ടിയിലെ ബെയ്ലര്‍ സ്കോട്ട് ആന്‍ഡ് വൈറ്റ് മെഡിക്കല്‍ സെന്ററില്‍ ചികിത്സയില്‍ കഴിയുന്ന തന്റെ കുരുന്നിന് വേണ്ടി പ്രശസ്ത ക്രിസ്ത്യന്‍ ബാന്‍ഡായ എലവേഷന്‍ വര്‍ഷിപ്പിന്റെ “ഹല്ലേലൂയ ഹിയര്‍ ബിലോ” എന്ന ഗാനമാണ് ജോണ്‍സണ്‍ പാടിയത്.
“നമ്മുടെ രാജാവായ യേശു ക്രിസ്തു സിംഹാസനസ്ഥനായി. എന്നെന്നേക്കും എല്ലാ സ്തുതികളും അവന് മാത്രം. ഹല്ലേലൂയ” എന്നാണ് ഈ ഗാനത്തിന്റെ വരികളില്‍ പ്രധാനമായും പറയുന്നത്. “മാസം തികയുന്നതിനു നാല് മാസം മുന്‍പ് ജനിച്ച തന്റെ മകന്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുവാന്‍ 21% സാധ്യത മാത്രമാണ് ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ കല്‍പ്പിച്ചത്. ഇന്നും അവൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ദൈവമാണ് അതിന്റെ കാരണക്കാരന്‍. ദൈവം വിശ്വസ്തനാണെന്നതിന്റെ തെളിവാണ് എന്റെ മകന്‍” – ഇതാണ് ജോണ്‍സണ്‍ സമൂഹമാധ്യമത്തില്‍ കുറിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
ടെക്സാസ് ടു ലൈഫ് എന്ന പ്രോലൈഫ് സംഘടനയും ഈ വീഡിയോ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. മാസം തികയാതെ ജനിക്കുന്ന കുട്ടികളുടെ വിജയകരമായ ചികിത്സ വളര്‍ച്ചയുടെ ഓരോ ഘട്ടത്തിലും ജീവന്റെ മൂല്യം ഉയര്‍ത്തിക്കാട്ടുകയും ഭ്രൂണഹത്യ അനുകൂലികള്‍ക്കെതിരെ യുക്തിസഹവും ധാര്‍മ്മികവുമായ വിടവ് സൃഷ്ടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവെന്നു സംഘടനയുടെ പോസ്റ്റില്‍ പറയുന്നു. ഓരോ ജീവനും അമൂല്യമാണെന്നും അത് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനമാണെന്നുമുള്ള ഏറ്റുപറച്ചിലുമായുള്ള വീഡിയോ എല്ലാ സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയ പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമുകളിലും തരംഗമാണെന്നതും ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്.
