ഡാളസ് :അമേരിക്കന്‍ കോൺസുലേറ്റുകൾ, ഒരു യാത്രയുടെ പ്രധാന ലക്ഷ്യം അമേരിക്കയില്‍ പ്രസവം നടത്തുകയും, കുട്ടിക്ക് യുഎസ് പൗരത്വം നേടിക്കൊടുക്കുകയാണെന്ന് കരുതുന്ന ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് വീസാ അപേക്ഷകള്‍ നിരസിക്കുന്നു. ഇത് സാധാരണയായി “ബർത്ത് ടൂറിസം” എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.

The United States Embassy in India has cautioned travellers that anyone seeking to enter the country for birth tourism will be denied a visa on the spot.
According to the embassy, consular officers are now paying closer attention to the purpose of travel declared in applications. Officers can refuse a visa during the interview if they determine that an applicant intends to give birth in the United States to secure citizenship for a child, or if there is any attempt to conceal the true reason for travel in violation of U.S. immigration rules.
The U.S. Embassy in India also posted on X, noting that it has adopted a tougher posture toward B-1 and B-2 visa applicants in cases involving suspected birth tourism. The mission said that any attempt to use a short-term visitor visa to secure U.S. citizenship for a newborn will lead to an immediate denial, adding that consular staff are now trained to flag inconsistencies or undisclosed plans tied to childbirth in the United States.
“U.S. consular officers will deny tourist visa applications if they believe the primary purpose of travel is to give birth in the United States to obtain US citizenship for the child. This is not permitted,” the embassy told. As of now, the post has reached one million views.
Well, after the U.S. Embassy posted on X, users jumped in to share their opinions. One of the users wrote, “This is a fair decision. So many people across the world have misused immigration policies elsewhere & taken advantage.” While another, pushed back, wrote, “Denying tourist visas because officers assume someone might give birth in the U.S. is ethically troubling. It risks discrimination, especially against women, and polices intentions rather than eligibility.”
“Absolutely the right call. Visa categories exist for a reason — using a tourist visa for citizenship purposes undermines the system. Clarity like this helps everyone. #MAGA ##Trump Note: reduce tariff on India that is really spoiling everything,” one of the users commented.
Meanwhile, another, pointed towards Ambani family, and wrote, “Why was Isha Ambanis visa got approved then? She travelled to US just to give birth to her kid.”
The State Department has previously raised concerns about the growing misuse of visitor visas for birth tourism, noting that the practice strains local resources and complicates immigration screening. In an earlier statement, the department said, “It is unacceptable for foreign parents to use a U.S. tourist visa for the primary purpose of giving birth in the United States to obtain citizenship for the child, which also could result in American taxpayers paying the medical care costs.”
On the other hand, beginning Dec. 15, embassy officials will also introduce stronger online scrutiny for H-1B and H-4 applicants, reflecting Washington’s broader effort to tighten both work and visitor visa procedures for Indian nationals.

An American pastor has been arrested and charged with a crime for praying and peacefully demonstrating on a sidewalk in front of the Chinese embassy in our nation’s capital. His case is now advancing in the courts after a recent arraignment.
The American Center for Law and Justice, which is defending Rev. Patrick Mahoney in the case, contends that the U.S. government acquiesced to demands from China’s communist regime to arrest the pastor.
Shortly after Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the U.S., Mahoney was protesting Chinese human rights abuses while standing on American soil, on the public sidewalk outside the embassy.
Mahoney, who is director of the Christian Defense Coalition, has reportedly protested more than 300 times at the exact same spot over the years, and Chinese officials have complained in the past. In 2023, the Secret Service nearly arrested him for protesting there, but the ACLJ intervened and the government backed down.
That’s not what happened on September 28. “Sadly, this time the Chinese delegation was able to persuade the Secret Service to do its bidding and arrest this American pastor right here on American soil. The criminal charge: unlawful entry, as if he were breaking and entering. It’s ridiculous,” Jordan Sekulow of the ACLJ stated.
Not only was Mahoney arrested, but he’s now facing a trial. His arraignment was held last week, on October 21.
He posted on social media, “My own government arrested me for demonstrating and praying on a public sidewalk. Jailed me. Criminally charged me. Ordered me to stay off the public sidewalk and are now criminally prosecuting me in court.”
Mahoney pleaded not guilty, but he reports the DC court issued an order telling him he cannot go back on the public sidewalk near the embassy until the case is decided. The criminal charges against him are moving forward, and his next court date will be November 20.
He’s vowing to keep fighting for his First Amendment rights. “We will never be silenced,” he said.

A new report from the Pew Research Center challenges recent claims of a religious revival in the United States. The study found that religious practice has remained relatively stable since 2020, despite mixed trends among young adults.
According to the report, 34% of U.S. adults attended religious services in person in the past month, while 45% either attended or watched services online. These figures are the highest since Pew began tracking them in July 2020. However, the report highlights mixed signals among young adults, particularly those born between 2004 and 2008, who reported relatively high religious attendance. In contrast, those born between 2000 and 2003 were among the least religious Americans.
The report also found that the youngest men reported greater religious observance than the youngest women, a trend not previously seen in Pew’s surveys. However, researchers cautioned that it remains unclear whether this trend will continue.
EWTN News noted that the youngest Republicans attend religious services at higher rates than older Republicans, but younger Democrats also reported higher levels of attendance than older ones. This suggests that the trend is not limited to one political group.
The Religion Unplugged report emphasized that while the youngest adults show high rates of attendance, their overall religious commitment remains less distinctive. The findings suggest that the notion of a broad-based religious revival among young Americans remains unproven.
