Actress Kimberly Elise Leaves New Age For Jesus: ‘God Has Blessed Me’
Actress Kimberly Elise stunned fans when photos of her baptism went viral a few years ago, with “The Manchurian Candidate” star openly sharing her budding Christian faith.
Elise, 58, said her journey to Hollywood was a fulfillment of childhood dreams. She also shared her faith trajectory, noting she had initially come to Jesus early in her life, but walked away in her teenage years.
“We didn’t go to church, we didn’t study the Bible,” Elise told CBN News. “We were raised with Christian principles. However, I knew at a young age — ‘There’s something I’m missing.’”
And that missing piece started to come together when she was 16, got her driver’s license, and started bringing herself to church.
“I was going to church and got baptized when I was 16, and, unfortunately, I didn’t have the benefit of any discipleship, any development, any real understanding of what it truly meant to be a follower of Jesus,” Elise said. “So, I quickly went back into the world like teenagers do, and finished college, met my husband … at the time, got married, and then that segues into Hollywood and moving to California.”
Despite not being fervent in her faith while working in Hollywood, Elise said she knew God had blessed her with gifts and that those gifts needed to be used “in a certain way.”
“I didn’t know Jesus, I didn’t know the Holy Spirit, but I knew that God had blessed me and given me certain gifts,” she said. “And, so, when I went to Hollywood, I just knew there were certain things I would not and could not do because of the gift that God had given me.”
Elise, who grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota, recalled having a deep passion for entertainment early in life — a drive that led her to start working in commercials both locally and nationally when she was in college.
Before long, she dove into theater and eventually made her way to Hollywood, where she studied at the American Film Institute, graduated, and transitioned into feature films. The rest is history.
Elise enjoyed a successful career, but in 2019, she said she realized something wasn’t quite right in her life.
“Different things converged that made me realize I’m not making the choices that I should be making,” she said. “I’m not making good choices.”
Elise continued, “I was very into … the whole New Age thing. And, again, moved away from God and was like, ‘The universe and crystals.’”
The actress was “pretty deep” into these practices, and sounded the alarm about the dangers of devolving into such elements.
“The thing with New Age is it’s a constant search; it never ends,” she said. “You’re always looking for this other answer, and that’s why it’s … so broad and so wicked … it’s a bottomless pit and there is no truth in it, but you believe it is because it’s kind of close enough to sort of resonate in some way, but it’s all just a lie.”
Despite Elise’s best attempts to use crystals and other elements to fix her life, she knew something was amiss and that she still didn’t “have the truth.” One day, her pain and suffering came to a head.
“I literally got down on my knees in my kitchen, and I cried out to God, and I said, ‘Are you there? Do you see me? Do you love me? Do you know me? I can’t hear you,’” she recalled, noting she asked God to send someone who could tell her about Him.
Two weeks later, Elise said something incredible happened: she met with the mother of one of her friends — a Christian woman who said she had been waiting to meet with her. This woman prayed with her and then delivered a surprising message.
“The first thing she said is … ‘God loves you, God wants you to know that He loves you, and He hears you and He sees you,” she said.
It was the very answer to prayer Elise had sought in her kitchen just days before.
“It was an answer to that cry,” she said. “After that, she just called me regularly and would pray for me.”
Soon, Elise found herself wanting to know more about Jesus and she felt compelled to read the Bible.
“One morning, I woke up with just this strong calling to go get a Bible,” she said, noting she didn’t have a copy and had never read it. Didn’t have a Bible. “I went and I got a Bible, and I sat down, and I didn’t know where to start. I Googled, ‘Where do I start reading the Bible?’”
Ultimately, she ended up in the Gospels and started with Matthew. As Elise read through the genealogy, something clicked.
“It was just as clear as day — ‘This is truth,’” she said. “And I could not put it down. I could not stop reading, and the Lord just started filling me … and my understanding, and I could understand what I was reading.”
Elise started to see her sin, “pride and ignorance” — and it changed absolutely everything.
“God showed me my sin, and I just fell on my knees again, and just begged for his forgiveness,” she said.

‘Natural Realm Responded’: Filmmakers Detail Spiritual Manifestation on Set of New Movie
In Romans, the Apostle Paul wrote about the earth pointing to God’s “eternal power and divine nature.” The Koomans, two filmmaking brothers, certainly sensed that while making their newest movie, “Daniel and the Fiery Furnace.”
It unfolded when Mena Massoud, portraying Daniel, and Elijah Alexander, playing King Nebuchadnezzar, filmed a scene on-location in India from Daniel 2, when the king — furious over astrologers who couldn’t interpret his dream — ordered Daniel’s execution. Facing his would-be killers, Daniel visited Nebuchadnezzar, asking for more time to petition God for an answer to the king’s dream “so they would not be executed along with the other wise men of Babylon” (Daniel 2:18, NLT).
When Massoud began reciting his lines, telling Nebuchadnezzar the meaning of his dream, Daniel and Matthew Kooman told CBN’s “Faith in Culture” the atmosphere on set shifted powerfully.
The scene centered on the latter part of Daniel 2, when Daniel foreshadowed the coming of Christ and what many biblical scholars believe to be a reference to Jesus’ triumphant return in the end times:
During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever. That is the meaning of the rock cut from the mountain, though not by human hands, and crushed to pieces the statue of iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold. The great God was showing the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true and its meaning is certain” (Daniel 2:44-45, NLT).
“[Massoud is] speaking these words from Scripture, and a wind blows across the set,” Daniel Kooman recalled. “Behind the camera, tents were hitting walls and blowing off set. A rainstorm, a crack of thunder — things that we hadn’t experienced in the natural realm on any day leading up to that for 25 days of prep and shooting. None of these sort of occurrences were happening until those words of Scripture about the everlasting kingdom that is coming [were spoken].”
“All of a sudden,” he said, “the natural realm responded to those words of prophetic Scripture.”
With an impressive $1.2 million raised in crowdfunding, the Koomans said they are confident audiences are eager for epic-style theatrical films like “Daniel and the Fiery Furnace.”
More importantly, Matthew Kooman told CBN News he is confident the project has divine backing.
“God was clearly behind it from the beginning,” he said. “And we were blown away by just the success of raising funds through people who wanted to be a part of telling the biblical story. That’s what the real synergy was.”
Trusting in the Lord — and standing by the courage of one’s convictions — is critical to success in Hollywood, the brothers said, particularly for filmmakers making content retelling biblical stories.
Calling the project “incredibly challenging,” Daniel Kooman said the one thing that kept him and his brother grounded was constant meditation on the source material, the Old Testament book of Daniel, and a genuine belief in the inerrancy of the totality of Scripture.
The movie pulls cross references from all throughout the Bible. In addition to Daniel, the film blends in scriptural accounts from the the books of Psalms, Isaiah, Habakkuk, and Jeremiah.
“We found practically … we couldn’t take one step on any given day without a leading or a direction from the Lord,” said Daniel Kooman. “That can sound abstract, but, for us, it was like, ‘OK, what are we gonna do today and how is it going to have an impact?’ It’s only gonna be if it honors the Word.”
Pointing to Isaiah 55:11, which says Scripture “always produces fruit” (NLT), Daniel Kooman said he noticed a one-to-one correlation that, when they dedicated themselves to accurately retelling the story of Daniel as it’s depicted in the Bible, “there was an incredible blessing.”
“People on set — actors and people involved in the production — experienced that,” he said. “It was a daily occurrence of God’s help through the production.”

MTV Star Leaves Gay Lifestyle After Encounter With Jesus
Davis Mallory was once an MTV star who lived an openly gay lifestyle while simultaneously adhering to what he called a Christian identity.
Last year, though, “The Real World” star shocked fans when he shared a testimony during a Christian conference and it went viral. Then, earlier this month, he again found himself in the headlines after sharing images with his now-girlfriend.
The initial reaction to his testimony was so intense last year that he said he faced death threats online in the wake of conservative and Christian activist Charlie Kirk’s murder.
This sparked a fair amount of fear in the reality TV star and singer — until God spoke through people and everything changed.
“I was singing in Hawaii and, on my flight home from Hawaii, I fell asleep on the plane, and I woke up, and all I heard was, ‘Lean not on your own understanding,’” Mallory said. “And I knew a little bit — that that was somewhere in the Bible, but didn’t know fully where it was. But I knew that God was saying, like, ‘I got you. You don’t understand what’s happening right now, Davis, but I got you.’”
The next day, he had a dream where he was working with men in an Army bunker and he felt like God wanted him to be around other men of God. So, that night he went to a Bible study where he was prayed over. That same evening, a woman randomly approached him and said the Holy Spirit had prompted her to share a verse with him about fear.
“She said, ‘I can tell you’re very afraid right now, and the devil wants you to stay afraid because you’ll make mistakes because you’ll trip,’” he recalled, noting that these events teamed with other messages from God finally brought him to a place of peace surrounding his story.
This experience last year — and God’s provision — has enabled Mallory to speak out over the past few weeks and boldly share his journey to Jesus with total confidence.
“I have complete peace,” he said.
The journey for Mallory has been a fascinating one, as his ascent on reality TV in many ways hinged on his formerly gay identity; today, it rests on Christ.
“I … was thinking about the experience of being on a television show 200-plus years ago, making me famous for being gay, so to speak,” he said. “And the fact that I’m dating a girl today. If all of this was not on television, no one would know about it.“
Mallory, who grew up in a conservative and Christian household before initially coming out as gay, said there are many people going through similar circumstances in their personal lives, explaining that he believes God has used his journey and story to reach others.
His journey is one that he’s openly reflecting on, explaining that he dated girls during his childhood before finding his affections turned toward men. Somehow, he said, being gay “overrid” his beliefs. But, over time, Mallory said everything transformed.
“For me, it was just gradual,” he said of his realization that homosexuality isn’t in line with God’s will. “It was failed relationship after failed relationship. It was falling in love with a man for him to then cheat on me with another man, and then to do it all over again, and all over again, and finding these relationships that were non-monogamous that were really lustful, and were really unfulfilling.”
Eventually, this mourning turned into questions. And when a Christian woman named Rachel came into Mallory’s life, he started digging deeper into faith — and questioning it all. When he attended a Christian conference and heard ex-porn star-turned-pastor Joshua Broome speak, something shifted.
“The fruits of my lifestyle was what was robbing me and it was actually Josh Broome and going to a Christian conference, hearing John 10:10 spoken where the devil comes to rob from you, to steal from you, and to kill you, and I thought about the homosexual lifestyle.”
Mallory said he realized that the lifestyle was robbing peace from many around him, noting he had friends who had committed suicide and were unhappy; some even caught HIV. Others were simply unhappy that their expectations weren’t being met or found in same-sex relationships.
“I was just seeing that that lifestyle was really not producing the fruit of joy,” he said.
As Mallory’s friendship with Rachel grew, so did her spiritual influence. Over time, he started feeling an attraction to her and the two began dating — something that has transformed the MTV star’s life.
His relationship with Rachel has shown him a great deal about the true meaning of love.
“I was also seeing how lust will keep all of us attracted to every single person who’s beautiful because lust is just an attraction to beauty,” Mallory said. “But love is meeting the person that God designed for you.”
He continued, “And that was what I was finally feeling was this beautiful feeling of love, and I believe that every man, woman who has any kind of same-sex attraction can find this if they’re obedient and looking for it.”

Originally released in 2004, The Passion of the Christ is a dramatic portrayal of the last hours of the life of Jesus. Mel Gibson directed the film and Jim Caviezel starred as Jesus of Nazareth in this depiction of Christ’s trial, crucifixion, and resurrection.
Watching The Passion of the Christ is an unforgettable experience, and for the first time in over 20 years, audiences in the U.S. have the opportunity to watch it in theaters.
The Passion of the Christ (The Passion) is returning to the big screen for a limited nationwide re-release from September 10 to September 17, 2026.
For this special theatrical presentation, The Passion has been meticulously remastered in 4K resolution, with a new color pass and Dolby Atmos audio mix. Audiences attending the rerelease will also get to see a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of The Resurrection of the Christ, which premieres on May 6, 2027.
“It’s a powerful portrayal of the Lord’s Passion and death, and I think it’s going to be as powerful in its rerelease as it was when it was first released in 2004,” said Archbishop Paul Coakley, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Faithful to the Biblical narrative, the film became a cultural phenomenon, earning three Oscar® nominations and holding the record as the highest-grossing domestic R-rated film of all time for 20 years.
After its initial theatrical run, the film was only available via home media, digital platforms, or special community and church screenings. But now, audiences can finally see it in theaters for the first time in decades — a remarkable opportunity for many who missed the chance to see it in theaters when it was first released.
“Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ is back to remind us what true passion and true purpose really are,” said Clare McCallan, explaining why it’s time for the younger generation to revisit this one-of-a-kind film.
Faith leaders from various Christian denominations encourage viewing the film, and you can see a video here of their recommendations:
