New corona variant found in UK, 16 cases detected so far
Public Health England has recently identified a new strain of coronavirus which is now being investigated after 16 confirmed cases have been found in the United Kingdom. This has been designated as a variant under investigation on Wednesday, The Independent has reported. The variant is known as B.1.621. The authorities have clarified that not much has been known about this variant and there is no evidence to suggest that it might make vaccines less effective or lead to more severe illness so that the new strain does not spread fears among people.
The B.1.621 variant of SARS-CoV-2 might be a new variant in the United Kingdom, but this is not new in the world, In January, the variant was first identified in Colombia.
“Most of the cases have been linked to overseas travel and there is currently no evidence of community transmission in the UK,” the Independent reported.
The Covid-19 situation in the United Kingdom worsened in the last few weeks which has been attributed to the Delta variant of the virus. Despite the surge in the cases, Covid-19 restrictions were lifted in the UK this week. On Saturday, Britain reported 31,794 coronavirus cases.
Reports said the R rate of coronavirus in the UK is around 1.2 and 1.4 which means one infected person can spread the infection to more than one person. The infection rate in private households of England has also been the highest since January.
What is the variant under investigation?
Before classifying any variant as of interest (variants of interest) and concern (variants of concern), variants are first investigated. As of now, this new strain is being considered as a signal and its risk is being assessed.

‘Please…Pray For Us!’: Wife of Man Fighting For Life After Being Shot in Head While Preaching Pens Powerful Message
The wife of a Christian man shot in the head Nov. 15 while preaching is imploring people to continue fervently praying for her husband and family.
Zulya Schmidt, wife of 26-year-old Hans Schmidt, wrote a touching Thanksgiving message on her Facebook page Thursday, expressing her profound gratitude despite the family’s tragic circumstances.
As CBN Digital reported, Schmidt, a 26-year-old dad of two and the outreach director at Victory Chapel First Phoenix in Arizona, was taken to the hospital Nov. 15 on suspicion of having been assaulted.
But a CT scan revealed he had been shot. Schmidt has reportedly remained in serious condition, as his family hopes and prays for a miracle.
Despite facing such grim days, Zulya Schmidt is looking to God for peace.
“So much to be grateful for,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I am thankful for the amazing husband I got blessed with and all the fun adventures we’ve experienced and will experience.”
Schmidt went on to write a message directly to her husband, expressing her thankfulness also for the love he has shown her and their children.
“You blessed me with two sweet and beautiful children,” Schmidt wrote. “You are such a great and fun dad! I’ve always loved and admired your humility and willingness to help and serve.”
She also expressed appreciation for the messages of support and emotional assistance she has received since the shooting made headlines and shocked the nation.
“I’m grateful for all the love, support, and prayers we have received during this time,” Schmidt wrote. “Lastly, so grateful for a God we believe in and serve who upholds us during times like this.”
She continued, “Hans should have been gone that first night, but he’s still here fighting. Please continue to pray for us! We desperately need it.”
Victory Chapel First Phoenix is currently raising money for the family and has been updating the public about the tragic situation.
“Our outreach director, Hans Schmidt, was shot while street preaching on Wednesday night (Nov 15th) before service,” the church’s website explains. “He is in critical condition and in desperate need of a miracle.”
According to Blaze Media, the incident unfolded in Glendale, Arizona, with authorities investigating the shooting after initially receiving a report someone had been assaulted.
Officer Gina Winn, public information official with the Glendale Police Department, called the horrific event is a “horrible, horrible offense,” and said authorities believe someone in the community knows information about what unfolded.

നിസാര പരിക്കുകളേറ്റ ഒരാളെ ചികിത്സയ്ക്കായി ആംബുലന്‍സില്‍ പ്രാദേശിക ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയി. മറ്റ് നിരവധി പേര്‍ സ്വകാര്യ വാഹനങ്ങളില്‍ ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് പോയതായി ഐഎസ്പി അറിയിച്ചു. അവശിഷ്ടങ്ങള്‍ നീക്കം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി ഏഴ് മണിക്കൂറോളം ഗതാഗതം നിര്‍ത്തിവച്ചു.
സമീപത്തെ പോക്കാറ്റെല്ലോ റീജിയണല്‍ എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ അപകടസമയത്ത് താപനില ഏകദേശം 5 ഡിഗ്രി ആയിരുന്നുവെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. രാവിലെ മുഴുവന്‍ ഇവിടെ മൂടല്‍മഞ്ഞ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. അപകടത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അന്വേഷണം തുടരുകയാണെന്ന് ഐഎസ്പി പറഞ്ഞു.
