‘Such Divine Inspiration’: Filmmaker’s Powerful Quest to Prove Biblical Story of Israelites, Moses, Mount Sinai: Here’s What He Found

Published

on

A filmmaker is on a quest to find “the true location of Mount Sinai, where God presented the 10 Commandments to Moses, and first directed the Israelites to worship Him.”

Filmmaker Timothy Mahoney has spent 20 years exploring the biblical Exodus, examining archaeology, history, and science to discern evidence for Old Testament claims surrounding Moses.

His latest movie, “Patterns of Evidence: Journey to Mount Sinai: Part II,” hits theaters May 15 and 17, and explores Mount Sinai, a biblical location central to Christians and Jews.

“This location was the place [where] God actually met Moses,” Mahoney told CBN’s Faithwire, noting it’s the location where God tells Moses to bring the Hebrews. “[God] chose this mountain for some reason and He asked Moses to bring the Israelites back to that mountain, and from there … this is the big saga of the Exodus.”

He continued, “So, Mount Sinai is where this and the small group of people who started out, as you know, 12 family clans became the 12 tribes of Israel.”

Over the years, the filmmaker has investigated Moses, the Red Sea, elements of the Exodus, and more. Mt. Sinai is the latest exploration — one he said is important due to the biblical activity that unfolded there. After all, it’s where God spoke to Moses and where he saw the burning bush — and it’s where Moses received the law from the Lord, among other notable happenings.

There’s been some mystery, though, over the location of Mount Sinai, with Mahoney noting there have been different mountains suggested as the original location.

“Christians throughout the centuries have been looking for biblical locations to get closer … to the events of the Bible and just to pray and to have a sense of God,” he said. “I think that’s why Jerusalem is so significant to so many of us as followers of Christ.”

Mahoney created a scorecard through which to rate different locations based on the attributes they would need to have in order to be considered the authentic location of Mount Sinai.

He said parts one and two of “Journey to Mount Sinai” are stand-alone movies but “work really well together” to help explore all the possible options.

What’s perhaps most interesting about Mahoney’s work is how his investigations lead him deeper into his faith and into the belief the Bible can be corroborated.

“When you think about … [there are] 66 books [in the Bible],” he said. “There’s such divine inspiration and interconnectivity that there’s no way over the course of … 1,500 years, that all of this was not supernaturally woven together,” Mahoney said.

He’s hoping “Journey to Mount Sinai: Part II” has a deep impact on people’s faith, as viewers explore yet another film he believes is “historical, archaeological, [and] very logical.”

“I’m hoping that, when people come to this movie, that they’re going to come away with the sense that our ultimate purpose for life and purpose for being created is to worship God,” Mahoney said.

Christian Music ‘Comeback’ Underway as Brandon Lake, Forrest Frank Hit Billboard’s Hot 100

Published

on

Faith-filled tunes are making major waves on the music chart.

The Billboard Hot 100 is a much-watched ranking that tracks the most popular songs across all genres and regularly features artists like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar.

It recently announced that two Christian songs have broken into the top 100 for the first time in 11 years.

Brandon Lake’s “Hard Fought Hallelujah” featuring Jelly Roll currently ranks No. 44 after climbing as high as No. 40, while Forrest Frank’s “Your Way’s Better” is up to No. 62 after being ranked No. 72 last week.

“Say your prayers: Christian music is making a serious comeback,” Xander Zeller wrote for Billboard. “Christian music has historically had a limited presence on the Hot 100. Dating to when Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart adopted its current multimetric methodology on Dec. 7, 2013 — blending U.S. streams, radio airplay, and sales — 52 Christian songs have charted on both the Hot 100 and Hot Christian Songs. But there are some important caveats.”

Zeller explains that of the 52 songs, 34 are Kanye West’s gospel songs, and another handful are holiday songs.

“That leaves us with just 11 Christian songs that are not tied to the holidays or crossover rap acts,” the article explains.

The success that Lake and Frank are experiencing is not singular in nature. Billboard cites that the breakout music stars can attribute much of their popularity to social media, including platforms like TikTok.

Since 2019. Lake has charted 42 songs on the Hot Christian Songs chart. Nine of those songs have reached the No. 10 spots, and six of those tunes hit the No. 1 spot. Three of those songs, including “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” have spent more than 20 weeks at the top.

As CBN News reported, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” was first released as a solo track by Lake in November 2024. He later asked Jelly Roll to join in on the track.

“Collaborating with Jelly Roll on Hard Fought Hallelujah was powerful because we both understand what it’s like to walk through battles and still choose to lift a song of hope,” Lake previously shared with Music Mayhem Magazine.

“My prayer is that this song reminds people not to give up—that even in the hardest seasons, there’s growth, purpose, and a victory worth singing about,” Jelly Roll added. “Working with Brandon was an incredible experience. This track touched my soul like few others. ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’ is a song that will echo through my home for years to come.”

Frank, meanwhile, first broke onto Billboard’s charts in 2020 as half of the pop duo Surface with the hit song “Sunday Best.” Since then, Frank pivoted to Christian music and has had 34 entries on the Hot Christian Songs chart, including six top ten hits. Those hit songs include “Good Day,” which peaked at No. 2 spot in 2024; “Up!,” a collaboration with Connor Price, hit No. 8 last year; “Never Get Used to This,” featuring JVKE, hit No. 6 in 2024, along with three other hits.

Frank’s album “Child of God” dominated the Top Christian Albums chart, spending 34 weeks and counting at No. 1. He recently released Child of God II earlier this month.

As CBN News reported, Frank was named GMA Dove Award New Artist of the Year in 2024.

During his acceptance speech, he told the audience that while he is thankful for his growing accolades and success, he is focusing on what matters—glorifying God. “This is just all for Him and everything I do is for the Lord,” he said during his acceptance speech.

“For whatever reason, He has chosen to give me some songs that have related to some people. And if He shuts it off and doesn’t give me any more songs, then that is cool. And if He continues to bless it, that’s great,” Frank continued.

He added, “I want to continue to give Jesus glory because my name will fade away just like all of ours one day. But at the end of time, and for all of eternity, one Name will remain. And that is the name of Jesus Christ.”

A 23-year-old Mexican social media influencer has been shot dead while live streaming on TikTok, the state prosecutor’s office said.

Valeria Marquez was killed when a man entered her beauty salon in the city of Guadalajara “and apparently fired a gun at her”, according to the Jalisco state prosecutor’s office.

The motive for the fatal attack has not been identified but the case is being investigated as a femicide – when women and girls are killed because of their gender, the state prosecutor said.

Gender-based violence is highly common in Mexico where the UN reports 10 women or girls are murdered every day by partners or family members.

Moments before her death, Ms Marquez was sitting at a table holding a stuffed animal at her beauty salon in the suburb of Zapopan doing a livestream.

Seconds later, she is shot dead, with the footage only ending when another person picks up her phone to stop the recording.

Local media reports say she was killed by a man pretending to bring her a gift.

Police arrived at the scene around 18:30 local time (12:30 GMT) and confirmed Ms Marquez’s death, according to the state prosecutor.

The prosecutor’s office did not name a suspect.

Fans of Ms Marquez, whose social media following totalled nearly 200,000 across TikTok and Instagram, have reacted with horror to her death.

Mayor of Zapopan Juan José Frangie said his office had no record of Ms Marquez requesting help from the authorities due to threats against her, adding “a femicide is the worst thing”, according to news agency AFP.

The state prosecutor says forensic experts are investigating the shooting.

Joe Rogan Stuns With Skepticism of Big Bang, Proclamation About Jesus’ Resurrection

Published

on

Popular podcaster Joe Rogan delivered shocking statements on a recent episode of his show, casting doubt on the Big Bang theory and seemingly defending the plausibility of Jesus’ resurrection.

“It’s funny, because people will be incredulous about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but yet, they’re convinced that the entire universe was smaller than a head of a pin and that for no reason that anyone has adequately explained to me, instantaneously became everything? OK,” Rogan, believed by many at minimum to be an agnostic, said during a conversation with comedy podcaster Cody Tucker on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

Ultimately, Rogan said he finds the Big Bang theory — the scientific explanation of how the universe began as a tiny, hot, dense point and rapidly expanded and then cooled over billions of years, and is still actively expanding — tough to adopt.

He also wondered if humans, based on the notion that we are born and die, might place “biological limitations” on the universe and our understanding of existence.

“Wouldn’t it be crazy if there wasn’t something at one point in time?” Rogan continued. “That seems even crazier than there has always been something. … There couldn’t be nothing, and then, all of a sudden, everything.”

Rogan also quoted late ethnobotanist Terence McKenna who, according to biologist Rupert Sheldrak’s 2009 book, “Morphic Resonance: The Nature of Formative Causation,” essentially said belief in the Big Bang requires faith of its own.

The quote in question centered on modern science’s principle of proclaiming, “Give us one free miracle and we’ll explain the rest.” That miracle, of course, centers on the appearance of energy and mass in the first place.

Critics of a theological worldview will often say, “Well, who created God, then?” But this same question persists even for those who embrace the Big Bang and believe something essentially emerged without any source or Creator to spark the universe’s expansion.

“That’s McKenna’s great line … the difference between science and religion is that science only asks you for one miracle — the Big Bang,” Rogan said. “I’m sticking with Jesus on that one. Jesus makes more sense. People have come back to life.”

The conversation did move in other directions as well, with Rogan at one point posing the question, “Is God the universe?”

In the end, though, Rogan seemed to conclude the aforementioned line that “Jesus makes more sense.”
