‘I Am a Jew for Jesus’: Former RFK Jr. Running Mate Gets Born Again and Baptized

Nicole Shanahan, the billionaire and former vice presidential running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has dabbled in everything from Eastern mysticism to yoga and has even practiced Judaism for more than a decade. But after facing a “heart-wrenching” personal loss and intense “spiritual warfare” on the campaign trail, she says the only place she found refuge was in the arms of Jesus.
“Sometimes life has this way of turning down the volume on all the chaos, and in that stillness, we get a clear glimpse of what truly matters. One of these moments occurred in my life last month,” she wrote in “My Baptism Story,” a mini testimonial posted to X.
It’s an amazing conversion story that begins in September 2014 and takes a turn “just a few days before the presidential inauguration.”
The 39-year-old patent attorney, Silicon Valley tech entrepreneur, and ex-wife of Google founder Sergey Brin, writes that she decided to give her life to Christ and be baptized after being involved in politics.
Although Kennedy dropped out of the race and threw his support behind President Donald Trump last year, the Kennedy-Shanahan ticket still appeared on the ballot in several states during the November election and won more than 750,000 votes nationwide. It amounts to roughly 0.5% of the national popular vote total, but for Shanahan, it was a tough road.
She said she “never seriously considered whether demons were real” until that point in her career.
“Honestly, my last year in politics changed that,” Shanahan continued. “Learning just how far some will go to inflict atrocities on innocent Americans has shocked me awake. Other unexplainable events have also forced me to reconsider whether we are waging a war not merely with flesh and blood but with spiritual forces.”
Converting to Judaism
Before this “wake-up call,” Shanahan said she “practiced meditative prayer, influenced by years of practicing yoga, studying Eastern religions, and engaging in ‘personal development’ through programs like the Hoffman Process.”
In 2014, she converted to Judaism because she had come to enjoy “that it brings families together” and if she was going to give her future kids something she didn’t have growing up, “Judaism provides a wonderful blueprint.”
“The process was long and immersive: over a year spent at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco, attending study sessions and group conversion classes several times a week. I wrote a ten-page conversion statement—one of the best pieces of writing from that chapter of my life, in hindsight. It was a deep dive into the Torah, guided by the wisdom of several teachers,” she writes.
Over the last decade, she has identified as a Jew, but then recent tragic events in her life led her to see Jesus as the Messiah.
It began in September 2024 after her family suffered a “heart-wrenching loss” that she notes in her X post that she is declining to speak about at this time.
Through her masseuse, Ade, she met Diane, a woman who she calls a “deeply faithful soul” who helped guide her closer to Jesus and prayed with her.
Being introduced to Diane was more than just happenstance as Ade had been praying for Shanahan’s salvation for years.
“To this day, he remembers the first time we met and how worried he was about me. Coming out of my previous marriage, I was thin, fragile, totally worn down, and in anguish,” she recalled. “One day, it finally hit me that his prayers were doing more to heal me than the deep tissue massage ever could.”
She shares that after her family loss, she asked Ade for prayer many times. But one day, the prayers felt “different.”
“This time was different. I bowed my head, let the tears fall, and begged God’s help. It was then that Ade connected me with Diane,” Shanahan says.
Diane, she says, was someone like her, “a woman of mixed race from Oakland.” But this 70-year-old grandma serves as a chaplain at the fifth-largest jail in the country.
The meeting between the two women was intense, yet emotional as Diane combed through the Bible with a laser-like precision that finally broke through the “stubborn skeptic” in Shanahan.
“The pain of life sometimes can consume your entire reality, and the injustice, the loss, and the extreme nature of it all can feel genuinely unbearable. The weight of the world, perpetuated by greed, lies, and indifference, can often feel hopeless,” she said. “[But] Diane looked at me and said with absolute certainty that Jesus could save me—that His Blood is able to wash away sins and defeat the darkness that haunts the innocent.”
When Diane asked the young mom if she wanted to be baptized, she immediately said yes.
“When I said ‘yes’ to accepting Jesus as my Savior, I felt something I could hardly put into words. It was like being wrapped in a warm cocoon while becoming a grounded, weighted, immovable obelisk,” she recalled.
Shanahan says she is now seeing the “Light.”
“For over a decade, I identified as Jewish. But now, with the New Testament in my hands, I see the world’s spiritual pain in a way I never could before. It’s like a veil has been lifted, revealing a deeper understanding of the struggle between light and darkness,” she explained. “Today, I am a Jew for Jesus.”
New Convert Shares Christ
The brand new convert was bold enough to share the Gospel with her more than 547,000 followers writing, “Jesus longed more than anything to save ‘God’s lost sheep.'”
“It was the deepest, most unfulfilled desire of the holiest being to walk this earth. And I believe that longing still exists today—an aching truth we’ve ignored, distorted, and misunderstood for far too long,” she shared. “The universe itself is pressing us forward, like cheese through a grater, forcing us to feel the weight of God’s pain, the sorrow of a Father who gave His only Son, only to see Him rejected instead of upheld as the one true Messiah.”
Shanahan concluded in her post, “For those who are searching, who feel the same longing I once did, I can only say this: keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. Faith is not about having all the answers but about trusting in the One who does. And when you find Him, you will know you are finally home.”

Is this the most embarrassing verse in the Bible?

It’s a Bible verse that has puzzled Christians and been used by critics to attack the trustworthiness of Christ Himself. When Jesus, speaking of His return, said, “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place” (Matt. 24:34), did He believe His second coming would happen before those hearing Him would die?
At first blush, it sure looks like it.
Skeptical philosopher Bertrand Russell thinks so. In his essay “Why I am not a Christian”, he argued that Jesus got it wrong, saying: “For one thing, he certainly thought that his second coming would occur in clouds of glory before the death of all the people who were living at that time. There are a great many texts that prove that.”
C. S. Lewis mimics Russell’s thoughts in his “The World’s Last Night” essay when he puts these words in the disbeliever’s mouth: “The apocalyptic beliefs of the first Christians have been proved to be false. It is clear from the New Testament that they all expected the second coming in their own lifetime, and, worse still, they had a reason, and one which you will find very embarrassing. Their master had told them so. He shared, and indeed created, their delusion. He said, in so many words, ‘This generation shall not pass till all these things be done.’ And he was wrong.”
You see the problems, right? If Jesus didn’t know certain things, maybe He wasn’t God as orthodox Christian doctrine teaches. Even worse, it’s one thing for Him to be ignorant about a matter, but something entirely different to be wrong in what He said.
That would cause both you and me to wonder, if He was wrong about His own second coming, what else was He wrong about?
So, what are we to do here? How about we start at the top and work our way down to what I believe is the right position on this?
What did Jesus know?
While the traditional Christian position on Jesus is that He is the Son of God, and therefore sinless, infallible, and in essence God, plenty of people say otherwise. For example, skeptic Bart Ehrman wrote a book entitled How Jesus Became God claiming that the New Testament writers and the church invented Jesus’ divinity (a good refutation of Ehrman’s book is found in the work, How God Became Jesus).
o see how incorrect a statement that is, see this article I wrote showing how Jesus’ divinity is splashed around in the synoptic Gospels and the rest of the New Testament. I think you’ll see it’s hard to miss.
So, that being true, if we accept what Scripture says about Jesus being God, then what gives with the above verses which caused one of the best Christian thinkers of the 20th century (Lewis) to declare Jesus was both embarrassingly wrong and ignorant about His return?
Regarding Matthew 24:34: “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place,” the key question is, what does the term “generation” represent? The Greek word genea can mean a race of people, the total of those born during a certain timeframe, or a specific time (i.e., an age).
While Bible commentators assume different positions on what genea represents, none that I know of believe it refers to those alive at that time because “all these things” described earlier by Jesus in the chapter did not take place back then and still have not taken place today. Further, Jesus could not be referring to the generation listening to Him then because He had previously said the kingdom had already been taken away from that very same generation and they would not see it (Matt. 21:43).
That being the case, some, like theologian Charles Ryrie think genea means the Jewish race, while a slight majority (including myself) believe Jesus was referring to those alive who would see “all these things” that make up the Great Tribulation period in human history. Either interpretation could be valid, but the main point is that the text, given His previous statements in Matthew, isn’t saying Christ meant those alive in the first century.
In other words, Jesus wasn’t wrong in what He said.
Next, when it comes to, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone” (Matt. 24:36), and Jesus’ knowledge on earth, we take a deep breath and realize we are staring into the face of the Incarnation’s mystery. The best we can do is piece together what the Bible tells us.
We’re told that Jesus aged like all of us, “increased in wisdom” (Luke 2:52), and that He voluntarily set aside some of His divine attributes like omniscience, during His kenosis, when He “emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men” (Phil. 2:7).
Scripture also says that Jesus, during His time in this world, knew just what the Father showed Him. The Old Testament predicted this, saying: “I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him” (Deut. 18:18).
On this, Jesus Himself said: “I do nothing on my own authority but speak just as the Father taught me” (John 8:28), “For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment — what to say and what to speak” (John 12:49).
That being true, Jesus evidently was shielded from the exact time of His return while alive then but has no doubt resumed His omniscience now that He has returned to His glorified state.
So, even though I’m a C. S. Lewis fan, I think ol’ Clive got this one wrong. The bottom line is there is nothing embarrassing about Jesus’s words regarding His return and the “generation” who would be alive to see it.

‘Blessed Is the Nation Whose God Is the Lord’: First Trump Cabinet Meeting Opens with Prayer

President Trump convened his first cabinet meeting Wednesday, and the milestone was marked with prayer.
Scott Turner, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, led Trump’s new team in an opening invocation.
“Father the Bible says that blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, Father today we honor You in Your rightful place and thank You for giving us this opportunity to restore faith in this country and be a blessing to the people of America, and we pray in our meeting that You would be glorified in our conversation. In Jesus name, Amen,” Turner prayed as the group responded with “Amen.”
While prayer moments were also a visible part of President Trump’s first term, he said earlier this month that he’s had a deeper realization about God since he was nearly killed by a would-be assassin’s bullets during a campaign rally in Butler, PA last summer.
“None of us knows exactly when our time on earth will be over,” Trump told those gathered at the National Prayer Breakfast. “You never know—a truth I confronted a few short months ago when there was an incident that … was not fun.”
The president has frequently said he believes the Lord saved him that day. “God was watching me,” Trump said.
“It changed something in me,” he said. “I feel even stronger. I believed in God, but I feel much more strongly about it. Something happened.”
After the Cabinet meeting’s opening prayer, Trump then gave the floor to Elon Musk to talk about the DOGE efforts. He attempted to clear up some of the recent drama about emails to federal workers.
“What we are trying to get to the bottom of is we think there are a number of people on the government payroll who are dead, which is probably why they can’t respond, and some people who are not real people and just like fictional individuals… some collecting paychecks… so we are literally just trying to figure out are these people real? Are they alive? And can they write an email?” Musk explained.
One million workers have responded to the email, about half the number of federal workers. Trump said those who did not respond “are on the bubble” and might be let go.
The White House also instructed federal agencies to begin planning to eliminate positions calling it a “reduction in force.” Agency leaders have to submit their plans by March 13.

A new bill could change Medicare coverage requirements for Americans across the country.
With Medicare was set to run out of funding for telehealth coverage by the end of March, Democratic Representative Ro Khanna of California has introduced the Telehealth Coverage Act to continue the services.
Why It Matters
More than 66 million Americans use Medicare as their health insurance each year.
The pandemic popularized telehealth as an option as patients looked to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. But now many have become reliant on the practice, especially in rural areas where getting to a medical facility can take longer and be more cumbersome for seniors.
What To Know
Medicare’s telehealth coverage was scheduled to run out on March 31, but Khanna’s new bill would continue it.
Under President Donald Trump’s first administration, Medicare telehealth was expanded to allow coverage during the pandemic, when virtual visits became increasingly common.
And former President Joe Biden signed off on the American Relief Act 2025, which expanded originating sites for telehealth services and delayed in-person requirements under Medicare for mental health services.
However, if the funding for Medicare telehealth coverage runs out, most seniors on the government-run health insurance would need to find an in-person facility. That is likely to impact more than 12 million Americans, according to Khanna, despite the low level of fraud that has been discovered in telehealth.
“Why are we taking telehealth away from millions of seniors who are homebound or who have difficulty leaving their homes?” Khanna said in a statement. “It is most devastating for rural Americans.”
What People Are Saying
Democratic Representative Ro Khanna of California, on X, formerly Twitter: “Because of the Trump administration, seniors will no longer be covered for telehealth starting March 31st. That is why I am introducing the Telehealth Coverage Act, requiring Medicare to cover seniors’ telehealth services. Let’s pass this and make sure millions of seniors, especially in rural communities, don’t lose coverage.”
Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor for the University of Tennessee at Martin, told Newsweek: “It’s become clearer in recent months that the pandemic-era expansion of telehealth services did more than just assist patients during that time who faced health-related restrictions. Those services opened to door to more care for patients in rural communities who had lost clinics and hospitals in recent years to receiving pivotal treatments without having to travel extensively to get them. I think we’re going to see a strong push from legislators from both parties who serve rural areas to support extending these services, as they’ve become more essential to their constituencies who need care.”
What Happens Next
Unless the Telehealth Coverage Act is passed, patients covered by Medicare must find a medical office or facility for all the services they once received under telehealth begnning April 1. This is the case unless you live outside a rural area and are receiving certain treatments for end-stage renal disease, acute strokes or mental and behavioral health disorders.
