ദില്ലി: ഇന്ത്യൻ റെയിൽവേ പാസഞ്ചർ ട്രെയിൻ നിരക്ക് വർധിപ്പിക്കാൻ ഒരുങ്ങുന്നു. 2025 ജൂലൈ 1 മുതൽ നിരക്കുകളിലെ വർധനവ് പ്രാബല്യത്തിൽ വരുമെന്ന് ടൈംസ് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്തു. എസി ഇതര മെയിൽ/എക്‌സ്പ്രസ് ട്രെയിനുകളുടെ യാത്രാ നിരക്ക് കിലോമീറ്ററിന് 1 പൈസ വീതം വർധിപ്പിക്കുമെന്ന് റിപ്പോർട്ടിൽ പറയുന്നു. എസി ക്ലാസുകളുടെ നിരക്ക് വർധനവ് കിലോമീറ്ററിന് 2 പൈസയായിരിക്കും. 500 കിലോമീറ്റർ വരെയുള്ള യാത്രക്ക് സബർബൻ ടിക്കറ്റുകൾക്കും സെക്കൻഡ് ക്ലാസ് യാത്രക്കും നിരക്ക് വർധനവുണ്ടാകില്ല. 500 കിലോമീറ്ററിൽ കൂടുതലുള്ള ദൂരത്തിന് കിലോമീറ്ററിന് അര പൈസ വർധിക്കും. പ്രതിമാസ സീസൺ ടിക്കറ്റിൽ വർധനവുണ്ടാകില്ല. 2025 ജൂലൈ 1 മുതൽ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന തത്കാൽ ട്രെയിൻ ടിക്കറ്റ് ബുക്കിംഗുകൾക്ക് ആധാർ രജിസ്‌ട്രേഷൻ നിർബന്ധമാക്കിയിരുന്നു. തത്കാൽ പദ്ധതിയുടെ ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങൾ ഉപയോക്താക്കൾക്ക് ലഭിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്ന് ഉറപ്പാക്കാനാണ് ആധാർ നിർബന്ധമാത്തിയതെന്നാണ് വിശദീകരണം. 01072025 മുതൽ തത്കാൽ സ്‌കീം പ്രകാരമുള്ള ടിക്കറ്റുകൾ ഇന്ത്യൻ റെയിൽവേ കാറ്ററിംഗ് ആൻഡ് ടൂറിസം കോർപ്പറേഷന്റെ വെബ്‌സൈറ്റ് വഴി ആധാർ അംഗീകൃത ഉപയോക്താക്കൾക്ക് മാത്രമേ ബുക്ക് ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയൂവെന്ന് റെയിൽവേയുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക അറിയിപ്പിൽ പറയുന്നു. 2025 ജൂലൈ 15 മുതൽ തത്കാൽ ടിക്കറ്റുകൾ ബുക്ക് ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ യാത്രക്കാർ ആധാർ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയുള്ള ഒടിപി ഘട്ടം പൂർത്തിയാക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ടെന്നും മന്ത്രാലയം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.

In a significant move, Indian Railways is set to hike passenger train fares for the first time in several years, with the revised rates coming into effect from July 1. As per reports, passengers travelling on non-AC mail and express trains will see a fare increase of 1 paisa per kilometre.

A senior railway official said on Tuesday that around 13,000 daily non-AC mail and express trains across the country would see a marginal hike in ticket prices. For AC class passengers, the fare increase will be 2 paisa per kilometre.

The railway official assured that the new fare structure would not significantly impact passengers’ budgets. Suburban train fares and Monthly Season Ticket (MST) prices will remain unchanged, providing relief to daily commuters travelling to and from work.

Additionally, there will be no fare increase for passengers travelling up to 500 km in ordinary second class. However, for journeys exceeding 500 km in general second class, the fare will rise by only half a paisa per kilometre. For example, a 600 km journey would see an increase of just 50 paise, which is considered very nominal.

Earlier in June 2025, Indian Railways announced an important change. Starting July 1, 2025, Aadhaar authentication will be mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets.

The Railway Ministry issued a directive on June 10, 2025, stating that this measure aims to ensure the Tatkal scheme benefits reach the general public and prevent misuse by agents.

According to a notification from Indian Railways, starting July 1, 2025, Tatkal tickets will be available only to passengers who have completed Aadhaar verification. Bookings can be made exclusively through the official IRCTC website or app.

Additionally, from July 15, 2025, an extra layer of security will be added—passengers will be required to complete OTP verification based on Aadhaar. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number during booking, which must be entered to proceed.

2026 ജനുവരി 1 മുതൽ സ്കൂട്ടറുകളും മോട്ടോർ സൈക്കിളുകളും ഉൾപ്പെടെ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ വിൽക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ പുതിയ ഇരുചക്ര വാഹനങ്ങളിലും എൻജിൻ വലുപ്പം പരിഗണിക്കാതെ എ.ബി.എസ് (ആന്റി-ലോക്ക് ബ്രേക്കിങ് സിസ്റ്റം) (ABS) ഇൻസ്റ്റാൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് നിർബന്ധമാക്കി. റോഡപകടങ്ങളും മരണങ്ങളും കുറയ്ക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള പരിശ്രമത്തിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമാണ് പുതിയ തീരുമാനമെന്ന് റോഡ് ഗതാഗത, ഹൈവേ മന്ത്രാലയം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.

ഇതിനുപുറമേ, ഓരോ പുതിയ ഇരുചക്ര വാഹനവും വാങ്ങുമ്പോൾ ബി.ഐ.എസ് സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തിയ രണ്ട് ഹെൽമെറ്റുകൾ നൽകേണ്ടത് സർക്കാർ നിർബന്ധമാക്കും. റൈഡർക്കും യാത്രക്കാർക്കും സുരക്ഷ മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തുക എന്നതാണ് ഈ നടപടിയുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം.

നിലവിൽ 125 സി.സിയിൽ കൂടുതലുള്ള എൻജിൻ ശേഷിയുള്ള ഇരുചക്ര വാഹനങ്ങൾക്ക് മാത്രമേ എ.ബി.എസ് നിർബന്ധമുള്ളൂ. അതായത് ഏകദേശം 40% ഇരുചക്ര വാഹനങ്ങളിലും ഈ സുരക്ഷാ സംവിധാനമില്ല. എ.ബി.എസിന് അപകട സാധ്യത 35% മുതൽ 45% വരെ കുറയ്ക്കാൻ കഴിയുമെന്ന് പഠനങ്ങൾ തെളിയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

റൈഡർ പെട്ടെന്ന് ബ്രേക്ക് ചെയ്യുമ്പോഴോ ബലമായി ബ്രേക്ക് പ്രയോഗിക്കുമ്പോഴോ ചക്രങ്ങൾ ലോക്ക് ചെയ്യുന്നത് തടയാൻ എ.ബി.എസ് സഹായിക്കുന്നു. ഇത് വാഹനത്തിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണം നിലനിർത്താൻ അനുവദിക്കുകയും സ്കിഡ്ഡിങ്ങ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ക്രാഷ് ചെയ്യാനുള്ള സാധ്യത കുറയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ റോഡപകട മരണങ്ങളിൽ ഏകദേശം 44% ഇരുചക്ര വാഹന ഉപയോക്താക്കളാണെന്നാണ് കണക്കുകൾ പറയുന്നത്.

In a move to improve safety of two-wheeler riders, the road transport ministry has decided to make the anti-lock braking systems (ABS) mandatory for all new scooties, bikes and motorcycles manufactured after January next year irrespective of their engine capacity. The ministry will also soon make it mandatory for manufacturers and dealers to provide two BIS-certified helmets with two-wheelers at the time of sale.

Officials said the decisions are important considering that two-wheeler occupants have nearly 44% share of all road deaths in the country and most of these are due to head injuries caused because of not wearing safety gear.

The notifications for both these regulations will be out in the next few days.

“At present, ABS is mandatory only in two-wheelers having engine capacity of over 125cc and so nearly 45% bikes and motorcycles don’t have this. With the new notification, this will be applicable for all new bikes and motorcycles. As almost all these vehicles can achieve 70 kmph, this feature becomes all the more important to reduce chances of crashes,” said a ministry official.

ABS is a safety feature that prevents wheel lock-up during sudden braking, enhancing control and reducing stopping distances, especially on slippery roads. According to different studies and estimates, ABS can reduce road crashes by 35-45%.

On the decision to provide two certified helmets at the time of sale, an official said this is aimed at inculcating a behaviour among bike riders to use safe helmets. Till now, it’s mandatory to provide one helmet.
