India vs Pakistan, U-19 World Cup: India enter final after thrashing Pakistan by 10 wickets
India defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets to storm into their third successive final in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup. India will now play the winner of the second semi-final between Bangladesh and New Zealand.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyaansh Saxena helped India gun down the modest target of 173 with 10 wickets to spare after the highest partnership of the 2020 Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. Yashasvi was unbeaten on 105 as he finished off the chase with a massive six as early as the 36th over. Divyansh was not out on 59 as the India openers put on a masterclass on Tuesday.
India and Pakistan have now won 5 matches against each other in all Under-19 World Cups. If India manage to win the World Cup final on Sunday (February 9), they will extend their title count to 5. India are already the most successful team in the history of the Under-19 World Cup.
A little over 2 years ago, India had crushed Pakistan in the semi-final of the 2018 U19 World Cup after Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 102 had lifted the Indian U-19s to 272 for 9 off their 50 overs. In response, Pakistan were bundled out for 69.
In Potchefstroom on Tuesday, Pakistan had won the toss and decided to bat. Haider Ali and skipper Rohail Nazir hit gritty fifties but India pacers Sushant Mishra (3 for 28) and Kartik Tyagi (2 for 32) were too hot to handle.
Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, on the other hand, picked 2 for 46 off his 10 overs and was a consant source of bother for the Pakistani batsmen.
At one stage, Pakistan did look like they were in control but Yashasvi Jaiswal snared Haider Ali to trigger a dramatic collapse. From 96 for 2, Pakistan were shot out for 172.
In response, India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyaansh Saxena started watchfully but once they got their eyes in, the pair was unstoppable. Jaiswal was particularly in punishing mood and took the indisciplined Pakistani bowling attack to the cleaners and gave India the chance to defend their world title which they won under Prithivi Shaw 2 years back in New Zealand.

ഓസ്ട്രേലിയക്കായി സിമണ്ട്‌സ് 26 ടെസ്റ്റുകളും 198 ഏകദിന മത്സങ്ങളും കളിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 14 ട്വന്റി-20 മത്സരങ്ങളിലും അദ്ദേഹം ഓസ്ട്രേലിയൻ ടീമിനായി കളത്തിലിറങ്ങി. ഈ വർഷമാദ്യം സഹ ഓസീസ് ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ഇതിഹാസങ്ങളായ ഷെയ്ൻ വോണിന്റേയും റോഡ് മാർഷിന്റേയും മരണത്തിൽ നിന്ന് മോചിതരായി വരുന്ന ഓസ്ട്രേലിയൻ ക്രിക്കറ്റിന് മറ്റൊരു ആഘാതമായിരിക്കുകയാണ് സൈമണ്ട്സിന്റെ വിയോഗം. 2003,2007 ലോകകപ്പുകൾ കരസ്ഥമാക്കിയ ഓസ്ട്രേലിയൻ ടീമിലെ പ്രധാന താരമായിരുന്നു സിമണ്ട്‌സ്.
198 ഏകദിനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നായി 5088 റൺസും 133 വിക്കറ്റുകളും അദ്ദേഹം കരസ്ഥമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. 26 ടെസ്റ്റുകളിൽ നിന്നായി 1462 റൺസും 24 വിക്കറ്റുകളും നേടി. 14 അന്തരാഷ്ട്ര ട്വന്റി-20 മത്സരങ്ങൾ കളിച്ച സിമണ്ട്‌സ് 337 റൺസും എട്ടു വിക്കറ്റുകളും കരസ്ഥമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഏകദിനത്തിൽ 1998 -ൽ പാകിസ്താനെതിരായിട്ടായിരുന്നു സിമണ്ട്‌സിന്റെ അരങ്ങേറ്റം. 2009-ൽ പാകിസ്താനെതിരെ തന്നെയായിരുന്നു അവസാന അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ഏകദിന മത്സരവും അദ്ദേഹം കളിച്ചത്.

ലോക ക്രിക്കറ്റ് കണ്ട എക്കാലത്തെയും മികച്ച സ്പിന്നർമാരിലൊരാളാണ് ഷെയ്ൻ വോണ്‍. ഓസ്ട്രേലിയക്കായി 145 ടെസ്റ്റിൽ നിന്ന് 3,154 റണ്‍സും 708 വിക്കറ്റും നേടി. 194 ഏകദിനത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 293 വിക്കറ്റും അദ്ദേഹം നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.ടെസ്റ്റ് വിക്കറ്റ് നേട്ടങ്ങളില്‍ ലോകത്തെ രണ്ടാംസ്ഥാനക്കാരനാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം.കൊവിഡ് ബാധിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം വിശ്രമത്തിലായിരുന്നു ഷെയ്ന്‍.
എന്നാൽ ദേശീയ ജഴ്സിയിൽ ട്വന്റി-20 കളിക്കാനായിട്ടില്ല. 55 ഐപിഎല്ലിൽ നിന്നായി 198 റണ്‍സും 57 വിക്കറ്റും വോണ്‍ സ്വന്തം പേരിലാക്കി.
അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ക്രിക്കറ്റില്‍ നിന്ന് വിരമിച്ച ശേഷവും ക്ലബ് ക്രിക്കറ്റില്‍ അദ്ദേഹം സജീവമായിരുന്നു. ഏറെ നാള്‍ കളിക്കാരനെന്ന നിലയില്‍ തുടര്‍ന്ന അദ്ദേഹം പരിശീലക വേഷത്തിലും തിളങ്ങിയിരുന്നു.
