Chinese lawyer who defended persecuted Christians released from prison

Chinese human rights lawyer Wang Quanzhang has been released from prison and placed into 14 days of quarantine. According to Wang’s wife, Li Wenzu, Wang was released on Sunday morning and transported to Shandong province, some 400km from his family in Beijing.
Quanzhang was initially arrested in 2015 as part of a government crackdown on lawyers and human rights defenders – some 300 individuals were detained at the time. In 2019, the attorney was sentenced to four and a half years in prison on charges of “subversion of state power.” There were reports that Wang was mistreated while detained, with several others who were arrested at the same time recounting incidences of physical and psychological torture. Wang himself suffered the onset of serious health issues while imprisoned, including hearing loss.
Upon the lawyer’s release, a European Union Spokesperson said that it “considers that his rights under China’s legislation and international commitments were not respected during trial and detention” and urged the authorities to investigate claims that he was mistreated while in custody.
The release of Chinese human rights lawyer Wang Quanzhang, however we reiterate that he should never have been detained in the first place, and are deeply concerned that he is still being denied his freedom. Wang has devoted years of his life to defending the rights of the most vulnerable, and the Chinese government must now ensure that he is truly free and allowed to reunite with his family, and not subject to house arrest or any restrictions on his rights and freedoms.
“CSW calls on the international community to carefully monitor Wang Quanzhang’s case, and to make use of bilateral and multilateral engagements to press China to allow him and his family full freedom. We also continue to call for the immediate and unconditional release of all those detained in connection with the defence of human rights, including the right to freedom of religion or belief, in China.”

Eliana Grace Flores testified on her Instagram account how God prompted her to share the Gospel with everyone while she was on an airplane. During the flight, Eliana shared how the Lord kept on telling her to preach the Gospel. Thinking that she couldn’t do it, she said, “God, I’m not there yet.”
“Okay let me begin with this… if there was any person who was the most scared to preach the Gospel publicly, it was me.”
After spending some time with the Lord, she suddenly felt excited to share the Gospel. Before she stood up and opened her mouth to speak, she spent the entire flight praying and reading the Word of God. When the plane finally landed, she knew that it was her time to let Jesus be known.
“When it came to the time, the enemy began to lie saying, ‘You don’t need to do it. Just talk to one person and that’s it.’ But I heard the Holy Spirit right after speak to me twice and what He said is so important for us to know as Christians, He said, ‘Eliana, all you have to do is open your mouth, and I will fill it.'”

‘Please…Pray For Us!’: Wife of Man Fighting For Life After Being Shot in Head While Preaching Pens Powerful Message

The wife of a Christian man shot in the head Nov. 15 while preaching is imploring people to continue fervently praying for her husband and family.
Zulya Schmidt, wife of 26-year-old Hans Schmidt, wrote a touching Thanksgiving message on her Facebook page Thursday, expressing her profound gratitude despite the family’s tragic circumstances.
As CBN Digital reported, Schmidt, a 26-year-old dad of two and the outreach director at Victory Chapel First Phoenix in Arizona, was taken to the hospital Nov. 15 on suspicion of having been assaulted.
But a CT scan revealed he had been shot. Schmidt has reportedly remained in serious condition, as his family hopes and prays for a miracle.
Despite facing such grim days, Zulya Schmidt is looking to God for peace.
“So much to be grateful for,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I am thankful for the amazing husband I got blessed with and all the fun adventures we’ve experienced and will experience.”
Schmidt went on to write a message directly to her husband, expressing her thankfulness also for the love he has shown her and their children.
“You blessed me with two sweet and beautiful children,” Schmidt wrote. “You are such a great and fun dad! I’ve always loved and admired your humility and willingness to help and serve.”
She also expressed appreciation for the messages of support and emotional assistance she has received since the shooting made headlines and shocked the nation.
“I’m grateful for all the love, support, and prayers we have received during this time,” Schmidt wrote. “Lastly, so grateful for a God we believe in and serve who upholds us during times like this.”
She continued, “Hans should have been gone that first night, but he’s still here fighting. Please continue to pray for us! We desperately need it.”
Victory Chapel First Phoenix is currently raising money for the family and has been updating the public about the tragic situation.
“Our outreach director, Hans Schmidt, was shot while street preaching on Wednesday night (Nov 15th) before service,” the church’s website explains. “He is in critical condition and in desperate need of a miracle.”
According to Blaze Media, the incident unfolded in Glendale, Arizona, with authorities investigating the shooting after initially receiving a report someone had been assaulted.
Officer Gina Winn, public information official with the Glendale Police Department, called the horrific event is a “horrible, horrible offense,” and said authorities believe someone in the community knows information about what unfolded.
Continuing praying for Schmidt’s recovery — and for his family.
