മസ്കത്ത്: ഒമാനിലെ വിസ കാലാവധി കഴിഞ്ഞ പ്രവാസികള്‍ക്ക് പിഴകളില്ലാതെ കരാര്‍ പുതുക്കാനുള്ള സമയപരിധി ജലൈ 31ന് അവസാനിക്കുമെന്ന് ഓര്‍മപ്പെടുത്തി തൊഴില്‍ മന്ത്രാലയം. തൊഴിൽ വിപണിയെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നതിനായി ജനുവരിയിലാണ് മന്ത്രാലയം സംരംഭത്തിന് തുടക്കമിട്ടത്. ഏഴ് വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ കൂടുതലായുള്ള പിഴകളാണ് ഒഴിവാക്കി നല്‍കുക.

കോവിഡ് കാലയളവില്‍ ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ള ഫീസുകളും ഇതോടൊപ്പം റദ്ദാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. വര്‍ക്ക് പെര്‍മിറ്റ് പുതുക്കാത്തവര്‍ക്ക് പിഴകള്‍ കൂടാതെ കരാര്‍ റദ്ദാക്കി രാജ്യം വിടാമെന്നും തൊഴില്‍ മന്ത്രാലയം വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ജൂലൈ 31ന് ശേഷം ഒരു അപേക്ഷയും സ്വീകരിക്കില്ലെന്ന് മന്ത്രാലയം പറഞ്ഞു. മന്ത്രാലയത്തിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക വെബ്‌സൈറ്റിലൂടെയും അംഗീകൃത സേവന വിതരണ ചാനലുകളിലൂടെയും സമയപരിധിക്കുള്ളിൽ നടപടിക്രമങ്ങൾ പൂർത്തിയാക്കണമെന്ന് മന്ത്രാലയം അഭ്യർഥിച്ചു. റസിഡന്റ്‌സ് കാർഡിന്റെ കാലാവധി കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടും ഒമാനിൽ തുടരുന്ന പ്രവാസികൾക്ക് നിലവിൽ പിഴകൾ ഇല്ലാതെ തന്നെ കരാർ പുതുക്കാൻ ഈ ഇളവ് വഴി സാധിക്കും. വിസ സ്റ്റാറ്റസ് ശരിയാക്കുന്നതിനനുസരിച്ച് റസിഡന്റ്‌സ് കാർഡിന്റെ എല്ലാ പിഴകളും ഒഴിവാക്കപ്പെടും. നോൺ വർക്ക് വിസകളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പിഴകളും ഒഴിവാക്കിയതായി റോയൽ ഒമാൻ പൊലീസ് അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നു. തങ്ങളുടെ പദവി സ്ഥിരപ്പെടുത്തി രാജ്യത്ത് തുടരാനോ, ശരിയായ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ ജോലി നേടാനോ, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പിഴകൾ കൂടാതെ നിയമപരമായി കരാർ റദ്ദാക്കി തിരികെ പോകാനോ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് അവസരം നൽകുകയാണ് തൊഴിൽ മന്ത്രാലയം. രാജ്യത്തെ തൊഴില്‍ വിപണിക്ക് ഉണര്‍വ് പകര്‍ന്ന് 60 ദശലക്ഷം റിയാലിലധികം മൂല്യമുള്ള ഇളവുകളുടെയും സാമ്പത്തിക ഒത്തുതീര്‍പ്പുകളുടെയും പാക്കേജിന് മന്ത്രിസഭ അംഗീകാരം നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു.

Individuals, employers, and workers are urged to take full advantage of the exemption and waiver package currently available, as no applications will be accepted after the deadline.

“The Ministry of Labour wishes to remind all individuals, employers, and workers that the grace period for rectifying legal status will end on 31 July 2025. Therefore, all concerned parties are urged to take advantage of the available exemptions before the stated deadline. No applications submitted after this date will be considered,” stated the alert.

This reminder follows an earlier statement issued in January of this year, which announced a significant package of waivers and financial settlements totalling over RO 60 million. This initiative, approved by the Honourable Council of Ministers, is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to streamline workforce conditions, safeguard the rights of both individuals and employers, and positively contribute to the regulation of Oman’s labour market.

The package of waivers and financial settlements are outlined below:

Cancellation of all fines and financial dues owed to the Ministry for expired labour cards that have remained inactive for over seven calendar years. Individuals and employers will also be exempted from paying financial obligations recorded (cost of a worker’s repatriation ticket) for the year 2017 and earlier.
Cancellation of labour cards that have remained unused for a period exceeding ten years, provided their holders have not requested any related services. These cards may, however, be reactivated under specific conditions (e.g., renewal requests, departure, service transfer, or the registration of a work abandonment report).
Waiver of financial obligations recorded against liquidated companies, provided that workers are either repatriated or their services are transferred.
A grace period is announced (six months, starting from 1 February 2025) to regularise the status of workers and employers. During this period, fines associated with labour cards will be waived, if certain conditions are met, such as renewing labour card and payment of renewal fees for the next two years, cancellation of work abandonment reports, transfer of worker’s services, and payment of the repatriation ticket cost by the employer or worker in cases of the worker’s final departure.

The Ministry also informed that applications related to this statement will be accepted from February 1, 2025 to July 31, 2025 via the Ministry’s official website and various service delivery channels.

The body of a 63-year-old farmer, La Noti, was discovered inside an eight-meter-long python in Majapahit Village, Batauga, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The grim discovery was made around 2:30 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA), according to Laode Risawal, Head of Emergency and Logistics at the South Buton Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

La Noti had been reported missing earlier, prompting a search operation by local residents. His remains were eventually found during the effort—completely swallowed by the massive python.
