China has launched online visa applications system in India to simplify and speed up the visa process for Indian travellers. The new system came into effect from December 20, 2025.

Under the new process, applicants can fill out visa application forms and upload required documents online through the official website. The move is expected to reduce time spent during the initial stages of visa processing by allowing digital submission of documents.

The Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in New Delhi will continue to assist applicants alongside the online platform. The centre operates from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 3 pm and is located at Shivaji Stadium Metro Station in Connaught Place.

According to a notice issued by the Visa Application Service Centre, applicants must create or log in to their accounts on the official website, complete the application form online and upload all supporting documents. Applicants can submit their physical passport and documents at the centre only after the application status shows “online review completed” and a confirmation email has been received.

The launch of the online system is seen as a step to promote people-to-people exchanges and ease travel between India and China.

India resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese nationals worldwide in November 2025, while business visas were already being issued earlier. These steps are part of people-centric confidence-building measures agreed by both sides in 2025, which also included the resumption of direct commercial flights and the revival of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra.

The decision is expected to support tourism, trade and broader exchanges between the two countries.
