ബംഗളൂരു: രാജ്യത്തു ക്രൈസ്‌തവർ നേരിടുന്ന ആശങ്കകളെക്കുറിച്ച് ചർച്ച ചെയ്ത് ഭാരത കത്തോലിക്ക മെത്രാൻ സമിതി (സിബിസിഐ) യുടെ 37-ാമത് വാർഷിക ജനറൽ ബോഡി സമ്മേളനം. സെൻ്റ് ജോൺസ് നാഷണൽ അക്കാദമി ഓഫ് ഹെൽത്ത് സയൻസസിൽ നടന്ന രണ്ടാം ദിന ചർച്ചയില്‍ പ്രധാനമായും കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചത് സഭൈക്യം, സഭയുടെ ദൗത്യം, രാജ്യവുമായുള്ള സഭയുടെ ഇടപെടൽ, രാജ്യത്തു സഭ നേരിടുന്ന പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങൾ എന്നീ വിഷയങ്ങളായിരുന്നു. ഇന്നലെ രാവിലെ നടന്ന വിശുദ്ധ കുർബാനയ്ക്ക് സിബിസിഐ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ആർച്ച് ബിഷപ്പ് മാർ ആൻഡ്രൂസ് താഴത്ത് മുഖ്യകാർമികത്വം വഹിച്ചു.

ആദിമ ക്രൈസ്‌തവ സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ ഐക്യം കേവലം സംഘടനാപരമായിരുന്നില്ലെന്നും ആഴത്തിലുള്ള ദിവ്യകാരുണ്യ കേന്ദ്രീകൃതമായിരുന്നുവെന്നും വിശുദ്ധ കുർബാന മധ്യേ നൽകിയ സന്ദേശത്തിൽ മാർ താഴത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു. ഒരു വിശ്വാസം, ഒരു പ്രത്യാശ, ഒരു അപ്പം മുറിക്കൽ എന്നിവയിലൂടെ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ജീവിതവും വിഭവങ്ങളും ദൗത്യവും പങ്കിട്ടു. അത് സ്വാഭാവികമായും പൊതുവായ സാക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്കും പൊതുവായ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിലേക്കും നയിച്ചു. സമാനമായി ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കത്തോലിക്കാസഭകളായ ലത്തീൻ, സീറോമലബാർ, സീറോമലങ്കര എന്നിവ ഒരു ഹൃദയവും ഒരു ആത്മാവുമായിരിക്കാൻ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് മാർ താഴത്ത് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.

സിബിസിഐ വെറുമൊരു ഭരണസംവിധാനമല്ല, മറിച്ച് ആചാരങ്ങളുടെ വൈവിധ്യത്തിലൂടെ ക്രിസ്തു‌വിലുള്ള ഐക്യത്തെ സ മ്പന്നമാക്കുന്ന ദിവ്യകാരുണ്യ കൂട്ടായ്‌മയുടെ ജീവിക്കുന്ന പ്രതീകമാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു. വിശുദ്ധ കുർബാനയ്ക്കുശേഷം സെൻ്റ് ജോൺസ് ജൂബിലി പാർക്കിൻ്റെ ഉദ്ഘാടനം മാർ താഴത്ത് നിർവഹിച്ചു. ചടങ്ങിൽ സിബിസിഐ സമ്മേളനത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ ബിഷപ്പുമാരും സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു.

തുടർന്നു നടന്ന പ്ലീനറി സെഷനുകളിൽ രാജ്യത്തു ക്രൈസ്‌തവർ നേരിടുന്ന ആശങ്കകളെക്കുറിച്ച് ചർച്ച നടന്നു. മുതിർന്ന മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തക ൻ ഷാജി ജോസഫ്, ജോയൽ സിംഗ്, സുപ്രീംകോടതി അഭിഭാഷകൻ പി.ജെ. ജോസ് എന്നിവർ വിഷയം അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. ആർച്ച് ബിഷപ്പ് ജോൺ മൂലച്ചിറ മോഡറേറ്ററായിരുന്നു. നാഷണൽ യൂത്ത് വൊക്കേഷൻ സർവീസ് സെന്റർ, നാഷണൽ ബിബ്ലിക്കൽ, കാറ്റെകെറ്റിക്കൽ, ലിറ്റർജിക്കൽ സെൻറർ, സിബിസിഐ ഓഫീസ് ഫോർ എൻവയൺമെന്റ് ആൻഡ് ക്ലൈമറ്റ് ചേഞ്ച്, കാത്തലിക് കൗൺസിൽ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ, സിബിസിഐ പാസ്റ്ററൽ കൗൺസിൽ എന്നിവയുടെ റിപ്പോർട്ടുകൾ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to publicly condemn attacks on Christians and take firm steps to protect the rights of religious minorities, emphasizing that safeguarding constitutional freedoms is the responsibility of the government.

Addressing a press conference ahead of the 37th CBCI General Body Meeting in Bengaluru, Archbishop Andrews Thazhath, President of the CBCI, expressed deep concern over recurring incidents of violence and intimidation against Christians in different parts of the country. He stated that whenever such incidents occur, the Church consistently approaches the concerned authorities through dialogue and peaceful means, without resorting to retaliation.

Archbishop Thazhath noted that attacks are often attributed to “fringe groups” and stressed that if so, such elements must be clearly condemned and brought under control. He shared that he has personally raised these concerns with the Prime Minister on several occasions, including during the Prime Minister’s recent participation in Christmas celebrations. Emphasizing that the Church’s concern is not political, he said that Christians are being targeted purely on religious grounds, which creates fear and insecurity among the community.

Reaffirming the Christian response rooted in faith and non-violence, the Archbishop said that the Church follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, who calls his followers to love even their enemies. He also highlighted the long-standing contribution of Christians to nation-building in India, while expressing sorrow that discrimination and attacks continue despite this contribution.

Referring to recent incidents, including reported attacks on pastors, nuns, and priests in Odisha and other regions, Archbishop Thazhath remarked that such acts take various forms across the country. He reiterated that the Constitution guarantees minority rights and freedom of religion, and firmly rejected narratives portraying Christianity as foreign, recalling that the faith has been present in India for nearly two thousand years.

The press briefing was held in the context of the upcoming 37th CBCI General Body Meeting, which will be held under the theme “Faith and the Nation: The Church’s Witness to India’s Constitutional Vision.” The meeting will include reflections on the current socio-political context, constitutional values, and challenges faced by Christian communities, with addresses by eminent speakers including former Supreme Court judge Justice K.M. Joseph.

Also present at the briefing were CBCI Secretary General Archbishop Anil J.T. Couto, Vice-President II Bishop Joseph Mar Thomas, Deputy Secretary General Fr. Mathew Koyickal, and CBCI PRO Fr. Robinson Rodrigues. The CBCI leadership called upon the faithful to continue praying for peace, justice, and harmony, and for the nation to remain faithful to its constitutional vision of equality and freedom for all.

പ്രവാസി ക്ഷേമനിധി പെൻഷൻ മുടങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ, പെൻഷൻ ലഭിക്കുന്നതിലെ കാലതാമസം, ക്ഷേമനിധി അംഗത്വത്തിനുള്ള അപേക്ഷകൾ സമയബദ്ധമായി തീർപ്പാക്കാത്തത് തുടങ്ങിയ വിഷയങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പരാതികൾ വിവിധ പ്രവാസി സംഘടനാ പ്രതിനിധികൾ യോഗത്തിൽ ഉന്നയിച്ചു. നോർക്ക സാന്ത്വനം പദ്ധതിവഴി നിലവിൽ നൽകിവരുന്ന 50,000 രൂപയുടെ ചികിത്സാസഹായം വർധിപ്പിക്കണമെന്നും ചികിത്സാസഹായവും മരണാനന്തര സഹായധനവും സമയബദ്ധമായി അനുവദിക്കണമെന്നും പ്രവാസി സംഘടനാ പ്രതിനിധികൾ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.

പ്രവാസി ക്ഷേമനിധിയിൽ അംഗമാകുന്നതിനുള്ള പ്രായപരിധി 70 വയസ്സായി ഉയർത്തണമെന്നും നാട്ടിൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തുന്ന പ്രവാസികൾക്ക് സംരംഭങ്ങൾ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതിന് സഹായധനം നൽകണമെന്നും വിവിധ കാരണങ്ങളാൽ ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങൾ നിഷേധിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ അവ ലഭ്യമാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള വ്യവസ്ഥകളിൽ ആവശ്യമായ മാറ്റങ്ങൾ വരുത്തണമെന്നും യോഗത്തിൽ ആവശ്യമുയർന്നു.

The Kerala Assembly Committee on the Welfare of Non-Resident Keralites will take measures to help ordinary people quickly contact Indian embassies, committee members have said.

The committee, chaired by Parakkal Abdulla, MLA, held a sitting in Kozhikode on Tuesday (October 6) to discuss various issues faced by expatriates in the district, benefits due to them from the government and complaints related to welfare pensions.

MLAs K.M. Abhijith, Pazhakulam Madhu, Mohammed Muhsin, M. Vincent, and Xavier Chittilappilly attended the meeting.

A meeting of the Legislative Assembly Committee on the Welfare of Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs) has decided to set up a system to enable ordinary people to contact Indian embassies quickly.

Collector M S Madhavikutty informed the committee that measures will be taken to swiftly dispose of applications related to Aadhaar cards, electoral identity cards and similar documents during the short periods when NRIs visit home on vacation.

Representatives from various NRI organisations raised complaints at the meeting regarding issues such as suspended Pravasi Welfare Fund pension payments, delays in receiving pensions and the non-time-bound processing of applications for welfare fund membership.

In the meeting, representatives of various expatriate organizations raised grievances related to issues related to non-payment of expatriate welfare fund pension, delay in receiving pension and non-settlement of applications for welfare fund membership in a time-bound manner. The representatives of the expatriate organizations demanded an increase in the existing medical assistance of Rs 50,000 under the Norka Santhanam scheme and timely release of medical assistance and post-mortem assistance.

It was demanded in the meeting that the age limit for becoming a member of the Non-Resident Welfare Fund should be increased to 70 years, assistance should be provided to expatriates returning home to start enterprises and necessary changes should be made in the conditions for providing benefits in case they are denied due to various reasons.

Committee chairman Parakkal Abdulla presided over the meeting. Mr. K.M. Abhijith, Pazhakulam Madhu, Muhammed Muhasin and others. Vincent, Xavier Chittilappilly and NORKA committee joint secretary Md. Jayashree, Dy. K. Representatives of various organisations had participated.

മത്സരത്തില്‍ കുമളി സെന്റര്‍ ഓവറോള്‍ ചാമ്പ്യന്മാരായി. വൈപിഇ, സണ്‍ഡേ സ്ക്കൂള്‍ ഹൈറേഞ്ച് സോണലില്‍ കുമളി സെന്റ്ര്‍ ചാമ്പ്യന്മാരയപ്പോള്‍ സണ്‍ഡേ സ്ക്കൂള്‍ സെക്കന്‍റ് കട്ടപ്പന സെന്‍ററും, വൈ,പി,ഇ സെക്കന്‍റ് ചപ്പാത്ത് സെന്ററും കരസ്ഥമാക്കി.

മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ ചര്‍ച്ച് ഓഫ് ഗോഡ് ഇന്‍ ഇന്ത്യ കേരള സ്റ്റേറ്റ് കൗണ്‍സില്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി ഷാജി ഇടുക്കി ഉത്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. പാസ്റ്റര്‍ ചാക്കോ എബ്രാഹാം പ്രര്‍ത്ഥിച്ച് ആരംഭിച്ച കാര്യ പരുപാടികള്‍ക്ക് ഹൈറേഞ്ച് സോണല്‍ കോ- ഓഡിനേറ്റര്‍ പാ: പ്രജീഷ് ചാണ്ടി അദ്ധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ചു.

അഞ്ച് സെന്ററുകള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്നതാണ് ഹൈറേഞ്ച് സോണല്‍. ഇതില്‍ 55 പ്രാദേശിക സഭകളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള മത്സരാര്‍ത്ഥികളാണ് ടാലന്റ് ടെസ്റ്റില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തത്.

കൗണ്‍സില്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി പാ: ഷാജി ഇടുക്കി ഓവറോള്‍ ചാമ്പ്യന്മാര്‍ക്കുള്ള ട്രോഫി നല്‍കി. വിവിധ വ്യക്തിഗത മത്സര വിജയിക്കള്‍ക്ക് സമ്മാനദാനങ്ങള്‍ സെന്‍റര്‍ പാസ്റ്റര്‍മാര്‍, ലോക്കല്‍ സഭാ പാസ്റ്റര്‍മാരും ചേര്‍ന്ന് നിര്‍വ്വഹിച്ചു.

ഹൈറേഞ്ച് മേഖലയില്‍ നിന്ന് സ്റ്റേറ്റ് സെക്രട്ടറി പദത്തിലെത്തിയ പാസ്റ്റര്‍ ഷാജി ഇടുക്കിയേയും, ഹൈറേഞ്ച് സോണലിനെ മാതൃകപരമായി വളരെ ഉത്സാഹത്തോടെ നയിക്കുന്ന സോണല്‍ ഡയറക്ടര്‍ പാസ്റ്റര്‍ എം.വൈ വര്‍ഗ്ഗിസിനേയും ആദരിച്ചു.

ചരിതാർത്ഥ്യമുണ്ടെന്നും, എല്ലാവരുടേയും അകമഴിഞ്ഞ സഹകരണമാണ് അതിനിടയാക്കിയതെന്നും ഹൈറേഞ്ച് സോണല്‍ ഡയറക്ടര്‍ എം.വൈ വര്‍ഗ്ഗീസ് സിസി ന്യൂസിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.

കൂട്ടായ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനവും ലോക്കല്‍ സഭകളുടെ മികച്ച സഹകരണവും വരുന്നാളുകളില്‍ ഹൈറേഞ്ച് സോണലിന്റെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ ശക്തി പകരുമെന്നും, വിജയികളായ എല്ലാ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവര്‍ക്കും സോണലിന്റെ ആശംസകള്‍ അറിയിക്കുന്നതായും, ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച ജഡ്ജിങ് പാനല്‍ ആയിരുന്നു വിധികര്‍ത്താക്കളായി എത്തിയതെന്നും ഡയറക്ടര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

സമാപന സമ്മേളനം കട്ടപ്പന സെന്റര്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി സജിമോന്‍ എ സി (റെജി) പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ച് ആരംഭിച്ചു. മത്സരാര്‍ത്ഥികളുടെ മികവിനേയും, പോരായ്മകളേയും കുറിച്ച് ജഡ്ജസ് വിശദമായി സംസ്സാരിച്ചു.
