Signs of Revival: Christianity in Britain ‘Died…and Has Risen Again’
A Muslim man on social media stands before an old British church, saying, “You’ll be excused to think that this is a church, but as is the case across the UK, we took it over. It’s now actually a mosque, a Masjid. Christianity is depleting, Atheism is unfulfilling. Islam is here and is here to stay.”
For decades in Britain, interest in church was so low that thousands of historic church buildings were abandoned, with some turned into bars, skate parks, and mosques.
And in this officially Christian nation, where the King is prayed over and anointed with oil by an archbishop, polling shows that most British Christians experience ‘hostility and ridicule’ for their faith.
One Army veteran was convicted last year for a “thought crime” for his private prayer, and residents living near abortion clinics have been warned about praying inside their own homes. A public stand for Christ here could easily cost you your job or career.
In officially Christian Britain today, it is Bible-believing Christians who are the outsiders. They’re the ones who are expected to keep silent and not offend others.
The Rushmoor Borough Council, west of London, even proposed criminalizing public Christian prayer, singing and evangelism in the towns of Aldershot and Farnborough, before an intervention by Christian Legal Centre attorney Michael Phillips temporarily halted the move.
Phillips told us, “It was literally banning almost everything. It would ban amplification, ban singing, ban street preaching if it is hostile towards people with ‘protected characteristics.’ It means the decimation of free speech. These are the kinds of threats that we’re seeing across the country.”
One of the evangelists facing a ban is Jamie Broadey, who told us about one of his encounters with police.
“Some junior officers came, and they tried to shut off the microphone straight away,” Broadey recounted. “So, I began recording them and I just tried to engage them in a discussion. And I said, ‘Look, please, can you tell me what law you’re acting upon?’ She then called for backup. In the end, eight officers came.”
When we asked Jamie if a new law against public preaching would stop him, he told us, “Much of the New Testament was written from prison, so, no.”
Andrea Williams of Christian Concern, which is helping Jamie, said, “This just didn’t happen overnight. This has been happening for decades in this country.”
Williams says while there are large, dynamic churches in the UK, anti-Christian hostility has caused many British Christians to ‘self-censor,’ to keep their faith private.
“There’s a whole raft of self-censorship. It’s as if we’ve become ashamed of the gospel, ashamed of our history, ashamed of who Christ is, so that we’ve removed him from the public space,” Williams said.
Suddenly, after decades of both religious apathy and secular opposition, British newspapers are beginning to use the word ‘revival.’ British churches reported record attendance on Easter, and more British young men are going to church.
Justin Brierley, the author of The Surprising Rebirth in Belief in God, said, “I think that’s been the surprise for me is a real wave of interest, especially interestingly from young people in this country who it appears are returning to church again. Very often, these are young people who don’t necessarily have any history with Christianity.”
“This new generation that are rising up,” Williams said, “they’re growing up with no knowledge of Christianity. They don’t even know if they’re male or female. They’ve been given no idea of the beauty and value of marriage. When they’ve been told all of these things, they’re confused, and that’s why this new wave of Christians are generally quite radical about justice and truth because they’ve lived with the fallout.”
Jamie Broadey, too, believes revival is near.
“I can feel it,” he said. “I can feel it in my fingers. He (God) is doing it. And I believe that in the UK we will see a significant revival. We will see it.”
Jamie also says God has taken the attempt to silence his preaching and turned it around.
“I have never seen more unity in the local area between the churches, and I’ve never seen more interest in evangelism,” Bradey said. “God knows what He’s doing.”
The British author G.K. Chesterton once wrote that “Christianity has died many times and risen again.”

Advay Jain was born on April 23, 2022, in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, USA. He is recognised as the youngest person to publish a book (male).
Book Inspired By Preschool
Advay’s book was inspired by lunchtime at his preschool. The idea for the book came from his experiences during lunchtime at preschool. The record was verified in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, on April 3, 2026.
The official Instagram account of the Consulate General of India shared a post showing the Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, meeting Advay Jain.

In a blow to Indian IT majors, the United States on Thursday suspended several companies from the Permanent Labour Certification Programme, which lets firms apply for green cards for H-1B visa workers, arguing that the practice takes away jobs from Americans. The affected companies include Cognizant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, and HCL.
US Labour Secretary Keith Sonderling announced the move, which also impacts Western behemoths like Capgemini, Microsoft and Adobe. He was flanked by the head of the US Anti-Fraud Task Force and Vice President JD Vance.
“I am hereby suspending from the Permanent Labour Certification Programme some of the largest IT outsourcing firms in the world, Cognizant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, HCL, and Capgemini,” Sonderling said.
He said the US government will not accept “any new or process” any pending permanent labour certification applications involving these companies.
“Since 2009, just these companies alone have requested almost three million foreign workers. They’ve received over 230,000 H-1B visa approvals and over 100,000 permanent labour certifications,” Sonderling added.
He accused these companies of taking away hundreds of thousands of jobs from American workers.
The programme allows employers to sponsor foreign workers for permanent employment and residency.
Vance slammed Microsoft, calling it a company that abused the system the most.
“Microsoft laid off 6,000 American workers in 2025 after certifying that it could not find qualified American employees – yet the company was approved for more than 6,000 H-1Bs and filed 3,682 PERM applications, including nearly 1,000 applications for the same positions as the laid-off American workers,” the vice president said.
Indian IT professionals bag the lion’s share of the approved H-1B visa applications every year. As part of its larger crackdown against immigration to the US to save American jobs, the Donald Trump administration has been taking measures to make it difficult for companies to hire cost-effective talent from India and other South Asian nations on these temporary visas.
Last month, the Trump administration extended an executive order that would impose a fee of $100,000 for H-1B non-immigrant visas by another year.
JD Vance today called foreign workers hired on H1-B visas “foreign indentured servants” and the companies using the programme as “visa mills”.
He also claimed that “something weird” is underway in universities that sponsor research scholars through the J-1 visa programme.
“Something weird is going on at these universities. They’re using these visas way too much. They’re using them to undercut the wages of American grad students and American researchers,” Vance said.
“This is a fundamental insult to the American worker and to the American way of life. We cannot allow visa programs that were designed to ensure that American corporations had access to the best and the brightest, to use them to undercut the wages of American workers,” he added.
Vance accused the firms, chiefly Microsoft, of subverting due process. He claimed the rules require companies to advertise jobs in America before applying to the Department of Labour that they need foreign workers.
“They’ll put an advertisement in a small-town newspaper. They’ll go out there and say that ‘We have advertised for a position with our company, and nobody is responding to it.’ And they will use that lack of response to then go and replace American workers with what is effectively foreign indentured servants,” he claimed.
NASSCOM Reacts
Industry body NASSCOM said Indian technology companies have reduced their dependence on H-1B visas.
“While the decision affects a specific immigration pathway, NASSCOM has consistently maintained that immigration and skilled talent mobility are two distinct issues and should not be viewed through the same lens,” it said in a statement.
“The H-1B visa programme has historically played an important role in addressing short-term skill gaps in the U.S., and it will continue to be used to address short-term talent gaps. However, over a number of years, Indian technology companies have significantly reduced their dependence on H-1B visas, while steadily expanding local hiring and building a strong domestic workforce in the U.S. They work with majority of the US fortune 500 companies, enable them to innovate and grow, and generate more local jobs,” it added.
