Terrorists attack, search for Christians in Kenya, 9 dead

International Christian Concern has learned that on December 6, 2019, 11 non-local Christian passengers were attacked while travelling to Mandera from Nairobi and killed at Kotulo in northeastern Kenya. They were reportedly separated from their Muslim counterparts and killed for failing to recite the Islamic Shahada. Confirming the incident, a Kenyan police officer told ICC, “A passenger bus belonging to Medina Bus Company, traveling between Wajir and Mandera was attacked by a criminal gang at around 1730 hours this evening. The attack happened at Maadathe area, five kilometers to Kotulo. Lives are believed to have been lost.”
According to a reliable source, the militants separated passengers into groups, targeting the non-locals. Nine of the passengers on the Mandera-bound bus who could not recite the Shahada were paraded out of the bus and shot dead at close range by those believed to be al-Shabaab militants. There are two passengers still missing who are believed to also be dead. The names of those confirmed as killed are Athanus Kiti, Enos Odhiambo, Kelvin Mandela, Wisely Meli, Tikane Kasale, Leonard Mukanda, Francis Mbuvi, Rodgers Machuka, and Anchari Okerosi. The two still missing are Emmanuel Barasa and Nathan Bett.
Commenting on the terror attack, the governor of Mandera said, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the heinous bus attack near Kotulo, Wajir today around 5:00 p.m. where 10 passengers were killed or are missing. I am informed that the suspected al-Shabaab fighters cowardly segregated non-locals heading to Mandera from Nairobi. It is extremely sad and humanly disturbing to learn that, yet again, they segregated locals from non-locals before killing those they believed to be non-locals.”
The attack comes only a month after eight construction workers in Mandera escaped unharmed when the Somali-based militant group al-Shabaab ambushed the workers’ van along the Elwak-Kotulo road. It is common in northeastern Kenya for terrorists to target buses, separate passengers by religious identity, and kill the Christians.
In 2018, Fredrick Ngui Ngonde and Joshua Ooko Obila were killed in a similar manner for declining to recite the Islamic creed along the Garissa Masalani road.
In 2015, 148 students at Garissa University were killed by gunmen after the Muslim students were freed. In the same year, a Muslim teacher, Salah Farah, was shot for defending Christian passengers who were being separated for execution by al-Shabaab.
In 2014, 28 teachers traveling to Nairobi for the Christmas holiday were killed after being forced to recite the Islamic statement of faith.
Nathan Johnson, ICC’s Regional Manager for Africa, commented, “We pray for the families of the deceased and for peace to come to a region that has seen increased violence toward Christians who are just trying to survive. We hope that the government will take effective action to stop the senseless killing of so many Christians in Kenya at the hands of Islamic extremists like al-Shabaab. We praise God as the refuge and strong tower that He is for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ who continue to endure so much.”

An Instagram influencer shared the Gospel in an airplane full of passengers.
Instagram influencer
Eliana Grace Flores testified on her Instagram account how God prompted her to share the Gospel with everyone while she was on an airplane. During the flight, Eliana shared how the Lord kept on telling her to preach the Gospel. Thinking that she couldn’t do it, she said, “God, I’m not there yet.”
“Okay let me begin with this… if there was any person who was the most scared to preach the Gospel publicly, it was me.”
After spending some time with the Lord, she suddenly felt excited to share the Gospel. Before she stood up and opened her mouth to speak, she spent the entire flight praying and reading the Word of God. When the plane finally landed, she knew that it was her time to let Jesus be known.
“When it came to the time, the enemy began to lie saying, ‘You don’t need to do it. Just talk to one person and that’s it.’ But I heard the Holy Spirit right after speak to me twice and what He said is so important for us to know as Christians, He said, ‘Eliana, all you have to do is open your mouth, and I will fill it.'”

Everyone on that plane got to hear about Jesus and how He changed Eliana’s life. Today, her testimony has gone viral with over 457,000 likes! Many are also encouraged by Eliana’s courage and passion for the Lord.

‘Please…Pray For Us!’: Wife of Man Fighting For Life After Being Shot in Head While Preaching Pens Powerful Message

The wife of a Christian man shot in the head Nov. 15 while preaching is imploring people to continue fervently praying for her husband and family.
Zulya Schmidt, wife of 26-year-old Hans Schmidt, wrote a touching Thanksgiving message on her Facebook page Thursday, expressing her profound gratitude despite the family’s tragic circumstances.
As CBN Digital reported, Schmidt, a 26-year-old dad of two and the outreach director at Victory Chapel First Phoenix in Arizona, was taken to the hospital Nov. 15 on suspicion of having been assaulted.
But a CT scan revealed he had been shot. Schmidt has reportedly remained in serious condition, as his family hopes and prays for a miracle.
Despite facing such grim days, Zulya Schmidt is looking to God for peace.
“So much to be grateful for,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I am thankful for the amazing husband I got blessed with and all the fun adventures we’ve experienced and will experience.”
Schmidt went on to write a message directly to her husband, expressing her thankfulness also for the love he has shown her and their children.
“You blessed me with two sweet and beautiful children,” Schmidt wrote. “You are such a great and fun dad! I’ve always loved and admired your humility and willingness to help and serve.”
She also expressed appreciation for the messages of support and emotional assistance she has received since the shooting made headlines and shocked the nation.
“I’m grateful for all the love, support, and prayers we have received during this time,” Schmidt wrote. “Lastly, so grateful for a God we believe in and serve who upholds us during times like this.”
She continued, “Hans should have been gone that first night, but he’s still here fighting. Please continue to pray for us! We desperately need it.”
Victory Chapel First Phoenix is currently raising money for the family and has been updating the public about the tragic situation.
“Our outreach director, Hans Schmidt, was shot while street preaching on Wednesday night (Nov 15th) before service,” the church’s website explains. “He is in critical condition and in desperate need of a miracle.”
According to Blaze Media, the incident unfolded in Glendale, Arizona, with authorities investigating the shooting after initially receiving a report someone had been assaulted.
Officer Gina Winn, public information official with the Glendale Police Department, called the horrific event is a “horrible, horrible offense,” and said authorities believe someone in the community knows information about what unfolded.
Continuing praying for Schmidt’s recovery — and for his family.
