ക്യു ആർ കോഡ് തട്ടിപ്പുകൾക്ക് സാധ്യത; ജാഗ്രത വേണമെന്ന് കേരളാ പോലീസ്

ആധുനികജീവിതത്തിൽ ക്യു ആർ കോഡുകളുടെ (QR Code – Quick Response Code) സ്ഥാനം ഒഴിവാക്കാനാവാത്ത വിധം മാറിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു. ഡിജിറ്റൽ ഇടപാടുകൾ മുതൽ വിവരങ്ങൾ പങ്കുവെക്കാൻ വരെ QR കോഡുകൾ വ്യാപകമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ QR കോഡുകൾ സ്കാൻ ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ പാലിക്കേണ്ട സുരക്ഷാ മുൻകരുതലുകളെക്കുറിച്ച് കേരളാ പോലീസ് മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നൽകി. ഫേസ്ബുക്ക് പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെയാണ് കേരളാ പോലീസ് പൊതുജനങ്ങൾക്ക് നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.

QR കോഡ് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ഒരു ലിങ്ക് തുറക്കുമ്പോൾ, ആ URL (യൂആർഎൽ – വെബ് അഡ്രസ്) സുരക്ഷിതമാണെന്നും വിശ്വസനീയമായ ഉറവിടത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് വരുന്നതെന്നും ഉറപ്പാക്കേണ്ടത് അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്. ഇമെയിലിലെയും എസ്എംഎസിലെയും (SMS) സംശയകരമായ ലിങ്കുകൾ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുന്നത് പോലെതന്നെ QR കോഡുകൾ നയിക്കുന്ന വെബ്സൈറ്റുകൾ എല്ലാം ശരിയാകണമെന്നില്ല. നിങ്ങളുടെ വിവരങ്ങൾ മോഷ്ടിക്കാൻ ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്ന ഫിഷിംഗ് വെബ്സൈറ്റുകളിലേക്ക് നിങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുപോകാൻ അതിന് കഴിഞ്ഞേക്കും. അതിനാൽ, QR കോഡ് സ്കാൻ ചെയ്ത ഉടൻ തുറക്കുന്ന വെബ്സൈറ്റുകളുടെ ആധികാരികത ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തേണ്ടത് വളരെ പ്രധാനമാണ്.

This type of scam, known as “quishing,” is a growing cybercrime in India.
Common QR code scams
Tampered QR codes: Fraudsters place malicious QR code stickers over legitimate payment codes at shops, restaurants, and other establishments. Customers who scan the code inadvertently send their money to the criminal instead of the merchant.
“You’ve won” scam: Scammers send unsolicited messages or emails with a QR code, asking the recipient to scan it to claim a prize or a refund. The QR code leads to a phishing website that steals personal or financial information.
Online marketplace scam: This scam targets users on platforms like OLX. A fake buyer contacts a seller and sends a QR code, claiming the seller must scan it to “receive” the payment. Instead, scanning the code initiates a transaction that deducts money from the seller’s account.
E-SIM scam: Scammers, impersonating customer care representatives, convince victims to activate a new e-SIM using a QR code they provide. Once the victim sends the code back, the fraudsters activate the e-SIM, take over the victim’s phone number, and access their bank accounts.
How to protect yourself
Never scan to receive money: Remember that in a UPI transaction, you never need to scan a QR code to receive a payment.
Check for tampering: Before scanning a physical QR code, always inspect it for signs of a sticker or any other evidence of tampering.
Scrutinize the source: Do not scan QR codes that are sent in unsolicited emails, text messages, or from unknown individuals. If the QR code is in a public area, make sure it’s from a trusted source.
Preview the URL: Use a QR scanner app that shows you a preview of the website address before opening it. A fraudulent site may contain misspellings or be missing the “https://” security protocol.
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): Activate 2FA on all your digital payment and banking apps to add an extra layer of security.
Use secure QR scanner apps: Some antivirus providers offer QR scanner apps with built-in security features that can detect malicious links.
Update your software: Keep your mobile phone’s operating system and all applications updated. Developers often release security patches that protect against new threats.
What to do if you are a victim
If you suspect you have been scammed, take immediate action to mitigate the damage:
Contact your bank: Call your bank immediately and ask them to freeze or reverse any fraudulent transactions.
Report the incident: File a report with the cybercrime division of the police. You can also report the scam on the national cybercrime portal at cybercrime.gov.in.
Change passwords: If you entered login information on a fraudulent website, immediately change your passwords for all potentially compromised accounts.

കോഴിക്കോട്: ഇന്ത്യൻ എംബസികളുമായി വേഗത്തിൽ ബന്ധപ്പെടാനുള്ള സംവിധാനം സാധാരണക്കാർക്ക് ഒരുക്കാൻ പ്രവാസി മലയാളികളുടെ ക്ഷേമം സംബന്ധിച്ച നിയമസഭാ സമിതി യോഗത്തിൽ തീരുമാനമായി. പ്രവാസികൾ അവധിക്കായി നാട്ടിലെത്തുന്ന ചെറിയ ഇടവേളകളിൽ ആധാർ കാർഡ്, തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് തിരിച്ചറിയൽ കാർഡ് തുടങ്ങിയവയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട അപേക്ഷകൾ വേഗത്തിൽ തീർപ്പാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള നടപടികൾ സ്വീകരിക്കുമെന്ന് കളക്ടർ എം.എസ്. മാധവിക്കുട്ടി സമിതിയെ അറിയിച്ചു.

പ്രവാസി ക്ഷേമനിധി പെൻഷൻ മുടങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ, പെൻഷൻ ലഭിക്കുന്നതിലെ കാലതാമസം, ക്ഷേമനിധി അംഗത്വത്തിനുള്ള അപേക്ഷകൾ സമയബദ്ധമായി തീർപ്പാക്കാത്തത് തുടങ്ങിയ വിഷയങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പരാതികൾ വിവിധ പ്രവാസി സംഘടനാ പ്രതിനിധികൾ യോഗത്തിൽ ഉന്നയിച്ചു. നോർക്ക സാന്ത്വനം പദ്ധതിവഴി നിലവിൽ നൽകിവരുന്ന 50,000 രൂപയുടെ ചികിത്സാസഹായം വർധിപ്പിക്കണമെന്നും ചികിത്സാസഹായവും മരണാനന്തര സഹായധനവും സമയബദ്ധമായി അനുവദിക്കണമെന്നും പ്രവാസി സംഘടനാ പ്രതിനിധികൾ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.

പ്രവാസി ക്ഷേമനിധിയിൽ അംഗമാകുന്നതിനുള്ള പ്രായപരിധി 70 വയസ്സായി ഉയർത്തണമെന്നും നാട്ടിൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തുന്ന പ്രവാസികൾക്ക് സംരംഭങ്ങൾ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതിന് സഹായധനം നൽകണമെന്നും വിവിധ കാരണങ്ങളാൽ ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങൾ നിഷേധിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ അവ ലഭ്യമാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള വ്യവസ്ഥകളിൽ ആവശ്യമായ മാറ്റങ്ങൾ വരുത്തണമെന്നും യോഗത്തിൽ ആവശ്യമുയർന്നു.

The Kerala Assembly Committee on the Welfare of Non-Resident Keralites will take measures to help ordinary people quickly contact Indian embassies, committee members have said.

The committee, chaired by Parakkal Abdulla, MLA, held a sitting in Kozhikode on Tuesday (October 6) to discuss various issues faced by expatriates in the district, benefits due to them from the government and complaints related to welfare pensions.

MLAs K.M. Abhijith, Pazhakulam Madhu, Mohammed Muhsin, M. Vincent, and Xavier Chittilappilly attended the meeting.

A meeting of the Legislative Assembly Committee on the Welfare of Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs) has decided to set up a system to enable ordinary people to contact Indian embassies quickly.

Collector M S Madhavikutty informed the committee that measures will be taken to swiftly dispose of applications related to Aadhaar cards, electoral identity cards and similar documents during the short periods when NRIs visit home on vacation.

Representatives from various NRI organisations raised complaints at the meeting regarding issues such as suspended Pravasi Welfare Fund pension payments, delays in receiving pensions and the non-time-bound processing of applications for welfare fund membership.

In the meeting, representatives of various expatriate organizations raised grievances related to issues related to non-payment of expatriate welfare fund pension, delay in receiving pension and non-settlement of applications for welfare fund membership in a time-bound manner. The representatives of the expatriate organizations demanded an increase in the existing medical assistance of Rs 50,000 under the Norka Santhanam scheme and timely release of medical assistance and post-mortem assistance.

It was demanded in the meeting that the age limit for becoming a member of the Non-Resident Welfare Fund should be increased to 70 years, assistance should be provided to expatriates returning home to start enterprises and necessary changes should be made in the conditions for providing benefits in case they are denied due to various reasons.

മത്സരത്തില്‍ കുമളി സെന്റര്‍ ഓവറോള്‍ ചാമ്പ്യന്മാരായി. വൈപിഇ, സണ്‍ഡേ സ്ക്കൂള്‍ ഹൈറേഞ്ച് സോണലില്‍ കുമളി സെന്റ്ര്‍ ചാമ്പ്യന്മാരയപ്പോള്‍ സണ്‍ഡേ സ്ക്കൂള്‍ സെക്കന്‍റ് കട്ടപ്പന സെന്‍ററും, വൈ,പി,ഇ സെക്കന്‍റ് ചപ്പാത്ത് സെന്ററും കരസ്ഥമാക്കി.

മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ ചര്‍ച്ച് ഓഫ് ഗോഡ് ഇന്‍ ഇന്ത്യ കേരള സ്റ്റേറ്റ് കൗണ്‍സില്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി ഷാജി ഇടുക്കി ഉത്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. പാസ്റ്റര്‍ ചാക്കോ എബ്രാഹാം പ്രര്‍ത്ഥിച്ച് ആരംഭിച്ച കാര്യ പരുപാടികള്‍ക്ക് ഹൈറേഞ്ച് സോണല്‍ കോ- ഓഡിനേറ്റര്‍ പാ: പ്രജീഷ് ചാണ്ടി അദ്ധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ചു.
