Satanic song from Cyprus for Eurovision music competition: Believers in protest

Several dozen Orthodox Christian faithful and clergy members held up wooden crucifixes, icons of saints and a banner declaring Cyprus’ love for Christ in a renewed protest Wednesday over the island nation’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, which they contend promotes Satan worship.
The protest, held opposite the gates of the offices of state broadcaster RIK, was the second against the song “El Diablo” staged by Christians who argue the number has no place as the national song of Cyprus in the contest because of what they say is its brazen invitation to embrace the devil.
Both RIK and singer Elena Tsagrinou, who represents Cyprus in the contest underway this week in the Netherlands, say critics have misinterpreted the lyrics of “El Diablo” and that it’s actually about an abusive relationship between two lovers.
The song passed its first competition hurdle during a Tuesday semifinal and made it into the contest’s final round, set for Saturday in Rotterdam.
The people protesting Wednesday saw that as no cause for celebration, insisting that “El Diablo” is an affront to Cypriots’ Orthodox faith.
“This song doesn’t represent Cyprus. It doesn’t honor it. It insults Cyprus, it desecrates Cyprus and is dangerous, my good Orthodox Christians,” an unnamed clergyman said into a microphone while addressing the demonstrators. “It’s dangerous to our children, to our families. There is no chance that the devil can do any good to anyone.”
The Cypriot government has said that while dissent is respected, freedom of expression cannot be quashed.
The powerful Orthodox Church of Cyprus called for the withdrawal of the song in March, saying it mocked the Mediterranean island nation’s moral foundations by advocating “our surrender to the devil and promoting his worship.”
Devil worship
The Church’s highest decision-making body, the Holy Synod, urged the state broadcaster to replace it with one that “expresses our history, culture, traditions and our claims.”
Police also charged a man with uttering threats and causing a disturbance when he barged onto the grounds of the public broadcaster to protest what he condemned as a “blasphemous” song.
Tsagrinou played down the controversy. She said “El Diablo,” which she performs flanked by four dancers in skin-tight red costumes, is about an abusive relationship and has nothing to do with devil worship.
She said dealing with COVID-19 restrictions was tough while preparing for the contest, “but that’s not going to keep us back, and we’re going to feel the vibe that we want to feel and the smile on our face.”

Tim Allen Begins Reading New Testament, Reveals Which Book Has Left Him ‘Amazed’

Comedian Tim Allen has been reading through the Bible and now he’s onto the book of Romans.
The “Shifting Gears” star said he’s been “amazed” by the Apostle Paul’s letter.
“[I] finished the Old Testament, and it is such a gift when I get out of the way and the words and meaning flow,” he wrote on X. “This week I am now in the book of the Gospel of Paul. A Roman Jew familiar with Plato, Stoicism, and other Greek schools of thought. I am amazed in seven pages!”
Presumably to clear up confusion by what he meant, Allen added in a follow-up post, “Ok specifically reading Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans.”
In February, the 71-year-old star described reading the Old Testament as “a treasure” and, as CBN News reported at the time, he called it an “overwhelming experience.”
“After nearly a year, I have finished [the] entire Old Testament and the experience of re-reading, dedicated focus, and no drifting has made this a humbling, overwhelming experience,” he wrote on X, adding, “What a treasure.”
Allen has been bringing his fans and supporters along on his Bible-reading journey.
In August of last year, the celebrity — known for his conservative perspective — revealed he was having an “amazing” time reading Scripture and called the discipline “not at all what I was expecting.”
Years ago, during a 2011 appearance on ABC’s “20/20,” Allen told then-host Elizabeth Vargas he struggled with his faith and began to question God’s existence after his father was fatally struck by a drunk driver when the actor was just 11 years old.
But his faith was eventually reborn and now, he told Vargas, he sees God as “the Builder.”
“I always do ask … the Builder, ‘What did You want me to do?’” said Allen. “And I do ask it, but you’ve got to be prepared for the answer.”

Dolly Parton Holds to the Hope of Heaven After Husband’s Death: ‘I’m Going to See Him Again Someday’

It’s been three months since Dolly Parton lost her husband of 60 years. The country music legend recently reflected that her steadfast faith in God and the promise of seeing her husband again someday has sustained her through one of the biggest changes in her life.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honoree spoke openly about her faith in a recent interview with the Associated Press while promoting her new single-serve Southern-inspired frozen meals. She told the outlet that she often misses her husband, Carl Dean, and reflects on many cherished memories.
“I am a person of faith, and I truly believe that I’m going to see him again someday. And I see him every day in my memories and in my heart, and in all the things that we used to do and all the things that we’ve built together,” said Parton. “You just kind of have to learn to kind of make new plans — but that’s the hardest part.”
Parton and Dean had been married for six decades before he passed away in March at the age of 82 in Nashville, Tennessee.
“I really feel his presence,” Parton recently shared. “I just try to go on, because I know I have to. And he was ill for quite a while, and part of me was at peace that he was at peace and not suffering anymore. But that still doesn’t make up for the loss and the loneliness of it.”
The couple’s love story began 62 years ago when they met outside a Wishy Washy Laundromat. Parton was 18 years old and had just moved to Nashville.
“I was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me, he looked at my face (a rare thing for me),” Parton described the meeting. “He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about.”
Two years later and against the advice of her record label, Parton and Dean snuck across state lines to Georgia and got married in a small ceremony in Ringgold on Memorial Day. They hoped to keep the news out of the Tennessee newspapers.
Parton told CBN News in a 2016 interview that her husband was a “God-send.”
“I think my husband and my relationship was just really a God-send,” the 10-time Grammy winner said at the time. “God knew I was going to need somebody like him if I was going to be doing all this crazy stuff.”
Despite staying out of the limelight, Dean has served as the inspiration for her timeless hit “Jolene,” as well as her 2023 “Rockstar” album.
Parton says her husband would be proud of her for continuing her business ventures including the release of her new book in November, “Star of the Show: My Life on Stage,” and bringing “Dolly: An Original Musical,” to Broadway next year.
“I’ve always had dreams and I’m always working,” she shared. “My husband understood that. Carl knew that better than anybody and he was all about it. He was very proud of me. … So when I did lose him, I just thought, well, I’m going to take all of that energy, and I’m just going to put that back into other things, and I’ll keep him ever-present in everything that I do.”

Singer’s Wife Experiences Radical Miracle While Being Prayed Over: ‘Instant Healing’

Pop and hip-hop musician Bodie said God continues to “speak fresh vision” into his life, saying it’s been “really special” watching the Lord work throughout his personal and professional life.
He also shared the most incredible miracle he’s experienced in his life — a radical healing his wife, Royale Kuljian, experienced.
“I think a recent physical miracle … is my wife’s eardrum was completely blown out, infected, and not working,” Bodie said. “And the doctors were like, ‘Oh, this is not good.’ And then, that week, we went to church, laid hands on it [and] instant healing, full hearing [came] back right away.”
The performer said the experience was a “pretty cool, tangible miracle” — one that is proof of the Lord’s faithfulness. Royale also spoke about the experience and offered more specific details of her healing.
“I had gone to the doctors because it was just gone completely,” she said of her hearing. “And, so, they saw that there was no eardrum even there anymore. It completely blown.”
Doctors were discussing reconstructing her eardrum, but then Royale said she went to church and was prayed over — and something incredible happened.
“This girl at church was praying over me and I couldn’t hear her ’cause she was next to my bad ear,” she said. “And she was just praying, and praying, and then, immediately, I could start hearing her pray, and, so, I like looked at her weird. I was like, ‘I hear you, Amy.’”
Royale continued, “And, so, it was just a crazy, just instant, immediately hearing and it was fully gone, fully recovered.”
She’s since been back to the doctor and said her hearing is now “perfectly normal” and that physicians don’t have an explanation of what unfolded.
“They’re really confused,” she said. “But — miracle.”
